I quite enjoyed this Cat Who mystery. Qwill is just getting used to the huge inhertiance and all it involves - and meanwhile starts to look into the mystery of a previous employee of the house he inherits who apparently had moved away but left all her stuff behind. It also is written in a different way to usual, in that at the start of the book Qwill meets with an unfortunate accident, then the book goes back to the past to reveal how he got to that point. A fun murder mystery, not at all challenging but kept me amused.

This is the autobiography of Eamon Collins, a former I.R.A. terrorist and later informant. He turned his back on the organization in the late 1980s and was stabbed and beaten to death (most likely by I.R.A. members) in 1999,less than a year after this book was published. This is an insightful and disturbing look into the mind of a completely normal human being who did terrible things.

What a surprise. Even though I love the work of Ellis and Templesmith, for some reason I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. Issues 1-8 are included but I also managed to snag a copy of issue 9. I hope that Ellis comes back to this.

I haven't liked a Grisham novel in a long time. It seems to me that he has been writing poorly-or at least from his "soapbox" because he will sell millions of books regardless of whether they are good. This one reminded me of "The Firm" and kept me more interested than in the past. I liked that he had a main character that I liked and that was a good person. His last book ("The Appeal")left me confused about whether I liked the "good guy" or not. This one had some moral battles but didn't question whether the good guy would try to do what was right or not. I was pleased

** spoiler alert ** I don't sling around 5 stars. But I loved this book. I loved the humour, the snarky comments, the bumper stickers that started the chapters. But I really loved the darkness. The desolation that Charley felt at times, the feeling that she just couldn't get things right. This book didn't shy away from the darkness. It wasn't all sweetness and light. Charley knows that she doesn't always get things right, and when things go wrong people tend to die. This book had balance Charley Davidson is a PI and the Grim Reaper. To the deceased she looks like the sun shining on a swimming pool - she is the light that they should go to - sometimes she has to convince them, but they are drawn to her. She remembers everything from the day she was born, she can understand any language and she can see the dead. And she's alone. She's had to endure a lifetime of people not believing her, of being humiliated as a small child. But someone's always had her back. Someone always protects her - by severing the spinal cords of anyone who threatens her. And she's having sleep sex with a god of perfection. I loved the fact that she felt secure enough to tell her best friend what she was and to have that friend believe her was beautiful. I loved the fact that she named her breasticles and ovaries. I loved the one liners. I loved Reyes. But I'm afraid of him. Would he kill Charley if he had to? How did he wake up from a gunshot to the frontal lobe that should have left him a vegetable. What will happen if Satan ever gets a hold of Charley. I don't know, but I'm excited to find out.

Anyone who wants to understand Mexican immigration should read this book -- and it's a gripping read, for Garrison is at once stylish, unusually perceptive, wryly humorous, and, above all, both compassionate and deeply knowledgeable. This is an astonishingly original and important work.

This is classified as a Young Adult book but i would push it towards the older young adults. The book is beautifully written, it kept me reading with the way the words flowed and the situations grabbed my attention and kept me looking for what would happen next. The whole Polygamist thing definitely made me cringe, the underage (13 year old) having a baby was a bit hard to swallow and I wasn't expecting to like the book because of it but the way it is laid out with woman dying at 20 and men at 25 I understood where the author was taking the book and the issues the virus has caused in people trying to keep the population up and to find a cure. Rhine goes through quite the internal conflict with wanting to get out of her situation but not wanting to leave her sister wives alone, or wanting to hurt her "husband". Another issue I had was something I have heard in other reviews, Rhine is supposed to be the first wife yet she is in the house/marriage for almost a year and she is the only wife who hasn't had to consummate her marriage or bear a child (the reason why she was kidnapped in the first place) For some reason she was spared while the 13 year old was impregnated, yet she was the most favored wife??? It just seemed a little odd with everything that was going on. It was a good read and If you want a shocking and thrilling tale and dont mind some disturbing situations you will enjoy reading Wither too.
