Though it's his first book to play with the mold he'd already perfected, the Palahniuk-brand Crazy Plot Twist can be seen coming a mile away.
The thing I like about this book is that it adds the visual which means the information is presented to more than one of the senses. It's quite fascinating.

Don't mess with a man's dog! Nice change of pace from Off Season and Offspring.

Eggers writes in 1st person based on actual events of a Sudanese refugee, which is kind of interesting as one of the major themes of the book is the narrator's desire to tell his story. A story about events in Sudan as well as lving as a refugee in the US.

One of the first books i ever read that i actually had to think what it meant. Even though i still am a little unsure if i'm right or not, it hooked me from the beginning and i was captivated by every word.

Read this one quickly...because the middle section is SO frustrating that you just want to get to the end!

This book ended my extreme dislike of Dave Eggers. I enjoyed his first book, but then he struck me as such a pompous guy that I lost interest in him and couldn't bring myself to read his books. This is completely different from what he's done before and it's truly a compelling and sensitive story told by a likable (real) character. Eggers seems to have truly done justice to the story of one of the Lost Boys of southern Sudan. It's a wonderful telling of a very difficult story. As with many true stories of the horrors humans put other humans through, it's not easy to read sometimes, but it's an important story to know and it's well told.

Once again, I know this is a book most everyone read three years ago, but I was reading Collection Development for Youth Libraries three years ago, so I am just getting to this. This is a quick, fun read, despite what I would term, not the best writing. The plot is fairly stilted and predictable, but I still enjoyed the glimpse into high fashion (Weisberger was an intern at Vogue, so it seems like it would be pretty accurate), and I always enjoy things set in places I have been and Manhattan in particular. If you are a fan of Ugly Betty, you'll like this one. I deem this a good beach read, but don't bump something of consequence off your list for this one.

I loved this series, kind of sad that its over. Clare did a great job tying the story together, i wasn't left wondering like some other books i read.If you haven't read it yet, what are you waiting for??. It's amazing!!!.
