I only made it through the first 200 pages before giving up -- what a strange and overly depressing start to a book.

Sad. That's all I can think of at the end of Narnia. Sad. It should be bittersweet, but I think I just feel sad. Admittedly the parallel between the end of Narnia and the predictions about the end of our own world are astounding, I have to give C. S. Lewis serious props for that, and for making the end sound like a beautiful beginning. I seriously can't believe he wasn't LDS, the way that he talks about the afterlife. Anyway, although sad the book was beautiful and in true Narnian style. Love!

I loved the original Perfect Dark video game for the N64. It was amazing! So ahead of its time! Groundbreaking and imitated by many games since(including popular ones like Halo). The second game was not very good, but the books based off it are pretty good. The story is good and the book is short enough so it doesn't drag out.

This is the second in the Alex Cross series. It is, however, the first Patterson (or Cross series) novel that I've read. As such, I found that there was a bit of assumed knowledge that I was lacking - but this was hardly an impediment. Yes, there is reference to a previous case (and what would probably be considered spoilers are contained in these moments) but it's not essential to know the details, I think; the character of Cross is ably revealed through the novel's length. The novel cracks along nicely; Patterson's habit of keeping chapters short - two-to-three pages at most - is key to this. It's a novel for the train-and-bus crowd; for snatched moments of reading, and sure enough, the shortness of each piece of the tale makes you want to read more. You can power through this story in an afternoon, if you've a mind to. It's well-written, and not full of itself. It's popcorn. As surely as Dan Brown is, so too with James Patterson. But that's fine; successful airport novelists prove that easily digestible, compulsive page-turning books aren't a bad way of spending your time.

I found this book to be not about grace, but about the author telling her story to help herself. She appears to have very little grace if you don't agree with her political or social views which seem quite narrow minded for a liberal. Implying that George Bush is responsible for the failed economy and potential closing of the Salinas, CA public libraries is one example. I seriously doubt the poorest town in California collapsed economically solely during the Bush era. It seems almost a part political manifesto and part monologue on the martyrdom of raising a child and recovering from addictive behaviors. She seems to act as if she is the only person to ever raise an insolent teenager or suffer the loss of a friend. It just transitions from one story abruptly to another topic. Rather strange in its composition. This is the first Lamott book I've read, so it would take a glowing recommendation for me to read another.

This wasn't a bad book but, for some reason, I never finished it.

It has some great ideas on how to take care of your hair, and a well-expressed page on why washing your hair every day may actually be harming your hair. Also, it explains WHY celebrities look the way they do...and the ways to copy them! I recommend you at least take a browse.

Kind of like a Hallmark movie. Cute but ... a big stretch for the believability. You watch/read it ... and then sort of wonder why. Except that it was nice while it lasted.
