Didn't realize Ann Boleyn had a sister, it seems to be historically accurate?

I have to admit I've actually gotten a little tired of this series and have even missed reading a few recent titles. But Robb/Roberts redeemed herself with this book. I like that it didn't start with a dead body and that Peabody was front and center.

This book hit the "no shit" zone pretty early on, and stayed there throughout most of it. What is it that Sherlock Holmes used to say? Oh yeah. "Elementary, my dear Watson." In other words, PRETTY SIMPLE. Yes, it's difficult to choose. Yes, it's depressing us. Watch Barry Schwartz's TED talk [http://www.ted.com/tedtalks/tedtalksp...]. It's much more concise, and far more entertaining.

Hillerman paints such beautiful pictures of the Southwest and provides wonderful insight into the native cultures and beliefs. The story is fun too.

TETHERED” a novel by Amy MacKinnon is a gripping story about the Undertaking of sudden death, and what the collection and disposition of a body can uncover about the life of a person … and the damage done to and by that person. It is a story that uncovers the consequences of leaving acts of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse of children in the hands of God. It suggests that nothing can be done--that which happens is fated by a God who does not care about life on earth. And despite the best efforts, and variant methods, of well intentioned persons there is no such thing as “case closed … the scars are always there.” The author suggests relief and release come only in death. I read this novel in one sitting. I wanted a happy ending – but knew not to get my hopes up. “Tethered” is well written and well researched. Four stars. As an atheist - existential novels are of interest to me. As a child advocate - novels about the effects of child abuse and neglect are of interest to me. As a curious person - novels about professions i am not familiar with, in this case--Undertaking, are of interest to me. This is a good one.

This definitely isn't Tom Perrotta's best book. Actually, I found it a little far-fetched and boring. But I still think I'm going to rent the movie one rainy Sunday....
Great book on genious and what it takes to be successful - not the obvious conclusion.
Slightly outdated due to more recent developments both in the U.S. and abroad.
