i actually didn't even find the last chapter. i know, i know.. so terrible. it was pretty cute, and i enjoyed it. but, after 100+ pages, i was bored. but, any dog owner at all can definately appreicate it. i could relate page after page. and could still feel the love.

Unfortunately, what I bought was an abridged copy. It didn't say that it was abridged on the exterior cover. I didn't find out it was abridged until I was two-thirds into it. I don't think it would be fair of me to give a complete review of this work based on an abridged version. I think that would be ridiculous. In the future I will make sure I don't EVER purchase an abridged version of anything. The way in which the storyteller intends the story to be told is what storytelling is truly about. How can one take 600 pages from a book and say it won't effect the content. Having said that. I liked it. I just wonder what the 'real' version was like.

It's not going to be easy to forget this book. It was good. Really good. I don't understand some of the choices the author made, in terms of narration, but it didn't matter, overall. Further, I cannot stop compulsively re-reading the last (small) paragraph of the book. The paragraph contains, perhaps, some of the best few sentences I've ever read. Sentences that I want to write down and keep with me, because they're that good. This book is on my shortlist (already) for best books of the year.
