Easily, one of the worst pieces of tripe I've ever read. It's the only time I've finished a book thinking "how bad can it get". It got pretty bad. Every cliche' you've ever seen in a vampire story was there. The "surprise" ending felt more like a punchline. The book's only redeeming quality is that it's thankfully a quick read.
Snarky sense of humor which I love, but overshadowed by her potty mouth.

I enjoyed both the movie and the book.

I recieved a free copy of this book through the first reads on Goodreads. The Book of Life was not what I was expecting at all. The book had amazingly developed characters in such a short period of time and stories that grabbed your full attention within minutes. The title for the book was perfect. While I read the book instead of feeling depressed or sad like the character, I just felt as if, ‘well that’s life’. I thoroughly enjoyed every single page of this book and would recommend it to anyone.

I rarely ever read adult books (I love middle-grade and teen lit and read that almost exclusively) and this book reminded me why. Though I did end up liking the characters and actual story, there were some themes/situations that I really did not care for and I wish I hadn't read them. The story is complicated and jumps back and forth from the past of Camilla Dickinson's life to the present, with no warning, with scenes in the present of her granddaughter Raffi visiting her and also some phone conversations with children and in-laws. It took a while to get into it and get used to all the skipping around. I had recently read "Camilla," so it was nice to read about her adult life...even though it was rather sad at times.

This was the first book I've read by this author and it was fun and different. Being a mystery set on the Jersey shore I really liked the setting. Fun well rounded characters and I liked the point of view being from Danny considering it is a John Ceepak mystery. Interesting crime interwoven with past actions that come to light at the end regarding how we treat people.

I was a huge fan of everything I'd read by Jonathan Lethem--from novels like The Fortress of Solitude and Motherless Brooklyn to his short fiction to his brilliant collection of essays, The Disappointment Artist --but You Don't Love Me Yet left me utterly nonplussed. The book wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. The buoyant prose and beautiful narratives that I've come to love from Lethem were both conspicuously absent from this effort. His writing is turgid and the story seems phoned-in, lacking in emotional depth with characters cobbled together from equal parts hipster posturing and uncanny quirks that go nowhere. The book's a quick read and not uninteresting as far as stories go, but falls far short of the high bar that Lethem has set for himself with his previous work.

I really wanted to hear Lance's story but the writing, even the introduction, was so poor that sometimes I wasn't sure I could finish it. I know that this was Lance's voice and his words but it really needed some polishing. If the timeline had been more clear and some of the awkward phrasing had been cleaned up (and the exclamation marks removed) the book would have been much better. Despite all of the issues with the writing and the disjointed way the story was told I did feel that I had a more clear, though still heavily edited, version of what the "real" story of Lance Bass and *NSYNC was.

One of Vonnegut's works that I think gets less attention but which I very much enjoyed reading.
