I have to say I was partial to the title, and what it represented, and that was enough to draw me in. This kid thinks the things we all think but don't say. Or maybe I should just speak for myself. She is independent, intelligent, a little lost, and hilarious. The Noah's Ark church in a skating rink is just one of the things that made me love this ironic witty author. Definitely I would recommend to anyone with a sense of humor who can stand those books from the heart.

This collection of science fiction focuses on stories that were written during the cold war era and reflect the fears of nuclear escalation that were so present during that time.

Had to read it because the character's name is "Jaine Austen"...her mother wasn't a good speller! Mystery was a cute, easy read.

Wanted to love it, because Pollan's my hero. Didn't, though. There's some fine alchemy that occurs when you cross a mild-mannered-yet brilliant non-fiction writer with highly volatile subject matter, a la The Omnivore's Dilemma. It's just the right balance. This book, however, is about Pollan and his garden, and the history of gardens. Not quite as volatile, though the writing is still good; the result is a bland but well-written exploration of green thumbery. *Yawn.*

Interesting, but depressing. Very meaty, no filler at all. Not a light read.

You wouldn't think a book by Jay Mohr would be all that compelling, especially one detailing his decidedly lackluster contribution to the realm of SNL. As it happened, I casually glanced at the book with disdain at Border's, and ended up sitting down in one of their big black comfy chairs and reading it the whole thing cover to cover. There's plenty of dirt on pretty much every cast member from that time, which is the main draw. Mohr clearly isn't interested in preserving any of his relationships with the cast, and something about his relaxed, "just tellin' it like it is, bro" manner laid to rest any suspicion that he was making things up. I really don't care about SNL anymore (although I hear it's improved), but books about the show tend to be pretty fascinating, and even one by the voice of "Paulie" and the co-star of "King's Ransom" proves no exception.

I enjoyed every page of this book. The author provides an authentic and beautiful glimpse into the world of a girl with Asperger's, and within her own world, everything makes sense. It's her understanding of everything else that is difficult and blurry. Through Caitlin's journey to closure, she also finds clarity in her relationships with others, as well as the ability to empathize. I loved how Erskine used Caitlin's interpersonal strategies explicitly throughout the story, which showed just how hard Caitlin had to work at her "finesse."

Greatest love story? Uh.... I no think so. However, very much enjoyed this book. Very glad I read it. I appreciate when an author can truly understand his/her own characters; and though Scarlett was not very easy to like, at least she wasn't easy to like throughout the story. Her long, long path to self discovery seems very realistic given her personality. That said, she did grow and change because of her experiences.... also realistic. Thank you Ms. Mitchell. And everyone else in the story just drove you mad. But that's what other people are put on earth to do, right? Loved the book, worth the thousand pages and 14 months it took me to read it. (!)

I know holocaust books are disturbing but I think they were written because those people didn't want what they went through to be forgotten. This reads very fast.
