As far as post-boomer comics psychedelic philosophy goes, The Invisibles is well done; Morrison obviously knows his stuff. It's just that either I've moved on, or the world has, or both. Hyperreferencing just isn't the same with ubiquitous Wikipedia access, and the utopian futurists have moved their faith from LSD to AI.

The introduction to this collection by Walter Kauffman is one of the most helpful things I have ever read on Nietzsche. Kauffman, while a proffessor at Princeton, was apparently responsible for making Nietzsche seem important. He is generally the man when it comes to Nietzsche scholarship and I tend to trust his selection for this book.

Very revealing of the heartache and trauma of this most difficult time in history. One of the greatest parts of the book was coming to the end of the second volume and seeing an actual photograph of the author's father. All the characters are animals throughout the book, so seeing that human face was almost breathtaking.

If you can skim giant blocks of sing song, cave descriptions (let alone the painting desc) and the ongoing paragraphs of repeats to try and find ...well something - the only semblance of a plot involves barma drinking, drug taking and a bit of adultery.
