I'm a big dork when it comes to Robin Hood stories, and this one is by far my favorite. McKinley's portrayal of Robin as a flawed, reluctant hero with questionable archery skills brought him to life in a way that no story about Robin Hood ever had for me before. I read it for the first time when I was 12 or 13 and have kept a copy nearby ever since. It's my comfort book. Someday I want to adapt it into a screenplay.

Wow! Ochocientas páginas que se me hicieron cortas. Desde un principio me pareció evidente que George R. R. Martin era guionista, y uno muy bueno, la verdad se las puso fácil a la gente de HBO. Que los capítulos estén narrados desde puntos de vista diferentes, de personajes con perspectivas variadas, es genial, o al menos la ejecución es impecable. Cada uno de los ellos brilla con luz propia, lo cual facilita la introducción en gran cantidad y mantener su lugar e importancia sin perderse en la densidad del relato. Los personajes de George R.R. son multifacéticos, ambiciosos y complejos, Daenarys por poner un ejemplo, mantiene el interés, ritmo y evolución de la historia. En un género como la fantasía es difícil a estas alturas sorprender o crear argumentos novedosos. En este caso, el autor logra crear su propio mundo, "a la Tolkien", y salir victorioso luciendo una influencia más fuerte por la edad media o eventos históricos como "la guerra de las rosas". En esta primera entrega de la saga "Canción de Hielo y Fuego" el autor echa mano de las intrigas palaciegas y políticas para fijar las bases de lo que vendrá después. Evítense las comparaciones con Tolkien, aparte de odioso e innecesario, el último creó todo un mundo con su mitología, Martin narra una historia fantástica temporalmente delimitada. Ambas son fantásticas. Adictivo y refrescante, una lectura obligatoria.

This book gripped me right from the first page. I had high expectations from reading 'At the Sign of the Sugared Plum' but this book exceeded my expectations.It was a very good ending. It really shows the detail to anything that is mentioned. You should definitely read 'At the sign of the sugared plum' before this as the story continues from the first book. Overall was an amazing story. My favourite book by far.

Such a good summer read! I especially love the Nantucket setting as I love most books set in New England. The characters were well developed and there were some surprising twists I did not see coming.

Fablehaven Brandon Mull 351 pages Young Adult Kendra and Seth are trying to protect Fablehaven from an evil witch and demon. The setting doesn't contribute to the story since Fablehaven has been around for centuries. Protagonists: Kendra and Seth, brother and sister Antagonist: Evil witch named Muriel Kendra and Seth go to their grandpa's for vacation. Seth breaks the rules and goes into the forest and he finds and he finds the witch Muriel. Their grandpa finds out and they are punished for going into the forest. Later they begin to prepare for Midsummer's night, where all the monster come out. Seth breaks the rules again and opens the bedroom window. The demons get into the house and everyone is kidnapped except for Kendra and Seth. Kendra and Seth go out for the next few days to find their family member and friends. They figure our that their grandma is the pet chicken in their room and they change her back by taking her to the witch. But by doing this they release the witch from her prison. Now they have to stop the witch from releasing and evil demon called Bahumat and save Falehaven. I like this book because of all the fictional characters. 1. In flawless synchronization, the cloud of fairies swopped, diving toward him. pg. 130 2. The child was replaced by a leering goblin with yellow slits for eyes, and puckered nose, and face like a dried cantaloupe. pg. 173 Those who mess with the rules will be punished. The one thing that. would set this book apart from the rest would be the amount of fictional characters in it.

I just want to say that I like Macy a little more now. I hated her SO MUCH in the second book. She was just . . . irritating. I've always hated how everyone is so determined to change Sabina. They're convinced that just because Macy is "perfect" and she's more mage than vampire Sabina has to be, too. That irritated me to no end.
