I don't want to give too much of this story away, but I will say I was stunned at the outcome of this story and finding out exactly where they are. This world is really interesting and different. The idea that they count everything by hours and weeks threw me off at first, but hearing about the end goal and why it mattered made sense. There was so much that happened in this story that I want to share and talk about but I don't want to spoil anything. I would recommend this to anyone that is interested in YA Dystopian novels (my current kick right now) or YA novels for that matter as this is an intriguing story and I'm looking forward to the sequel!

I finally finished this book! It took me forever to read, not because of the story (which was compelling) or the pace (which was quite readable) but because I attempted to read it while reading two other books and swimming through the pudding of school. Barbara Kingsolver makes me want to dig up my whole backyard and plant five-colored silverbeet.

Intense story....the author does a great job of transporting you to another country with vivid descriptions of the surroundings. A bit slow in the middle but it picks up and the family secret is revealed.
