I think I missed something. As with Autograph Man, I just couldn't like the characters I felt I was supposed to like. I felt as though Kiki was dynamic and well-developed, but the other characters seemed like one dimensional self-absorbed twits.

I read this book when I was about in the 3rd or 4th grade and really liked it. Kind of gross in parts, but when you are a kid you are totally into it. Remember? Anyway, currently re-reading; my 2nd grader and I take turns reading it to my 6 year old. (all 3 of my kids LOVE the movie!)

Before I was half through this I bought These Old Shades, which comes first in the Alastairs. Devil's Cub is my 2nd Heyer, and like the first, I wanted to re-read when I was done. It's been a long time since I finished a book and wanted to go back to enjoy it all over again, but Heyer is one of those. She does so many things so well, it's just beautiful to appreciate.

This 4th book in the Harry Potter series is when the first death occurs, and the story does get more serious with each of the 7 books. Luckily, the messages of friendship and courage develop also, and there is also some humor in this very detailed story.

I read this to my kids and they enjoyed it so much I ended up buying it. I thought it dragged on a bit, but I'm not really a fan of graphic novels. My kids (8, 7) really enjoyed it and could even read it themselves.
