It definitely made me reflect on myself, my goals and my aspirations, but I think I'd need to reread it - or read and journal at the same time - to take better advantage of the insights it leads to.

Michele Scott never disappoints. A fast read with an adult "Nancy Drew" feeling.
Defiantly different than the Twilight series, but excellent in a lot of ways.

I was reading this book when the movie came out and actually saw the movie before I had finished the book! Of course there were a few differences bewteen the two and as much as I adore Hugh Grant, I did prefer the book over the movie.
So far this seems very similar to Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which may not be just my imagination because Nicole Krauss is married to Jonathan Safran Foer. (She calls him "her life" in the dedications.) But I didn't love that, for all I thought it was sensitive and well written, and so far this is incredibly depressing and I'm not enjoying it much. I also don't see how the two halves of the story fit together (the girl and the old man don't appear to be related, though perhaps they are and I haven't figured it out), though I trust this will become clear soon. On finishing - OK, it's sort of clear. I still wasn't crazy about this book. AND I still think it was too much like Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I do appreciate that it had some Holocaust content but was not a Holocaust book.

First of four novellas, "1922," was very dark and a little outside of King's usual box. Foreshadowing made it a little predictable, but I enjoyed it. 3/11: I've finished all four stories now. As King says in the Afterword, these are stories about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. This is a study of how they react. The second and fourth stories will stay with me for a while, because I'm pondering how I would react. This is a more mature King (and a more mature faithful reader!) both of whom are looking at the world with somewhat harder eyes.

This was an interesting read because it reads very quickly and it's kind of all over the place. Another attention deprived teen turning to boys for affection. I liked it and then I didn't like it... Hard to explain. This should be called What My Parents Don't Know because Sophie's father and mother are some pitiful characters.

Mini Book Review: I have to read these since I am a huge Castle fan, I just can't help myself. I love the fact that they have a picture of Nathan Fillion on the back cover as the author, makes me giggle. I know they are gimmicky and the writing not the best, but I still really enjoy them. This story was no exception. It's fast paced and filled with fun TV style dialogue. The characters are loosely based on the actual characters on the show which makes it lots of fun. Also some of the plot is taken from various episodes of the show and it appeals to my nerdy humour to figure out which one. My only complaint no naughty scenes between Rook and Nikki, that was hilarious to read in the first installment. A perfect book for a day at the beach and a must have for fans of Castle. I have the first book in paperback and will be buying this one as well when it comes out in that format. Hopefully one day I will be able to get Nathan Fillion to sign my copies, and I am still dying to know who ACTUALLY writes them. 3.5 Dewey's I borrowed this from Natasha and didn't have to review (But I will be buying my own copy when it comes out in paperback)
