I think this is James Baldwin's first novel, racey for it's time. I can't recall the details but it has definitely left an impression on me. It deals with a sexual relationship between a black man and an italian. It's a short read, but powerful nevertheless. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in James Baldwin.

yay.. wizzle--dizzle--doodad.. :) I love this book. never get enough with this kind of book. Willa Bean was a little cupid. Cupids live in faraway place called Nimbus. I remember , Harry Potter's 1st broomstick, Nimbus 2000. LoL In this imaginary world, Willa live in Cloud four. there other clouds, such as clud one, two, three untill nine clouds. where there is a Cupid academy, a place for young cupids study, before they start they job.when they are ready, cupids will have special missions on Earth. For young cupid, they have a job to make children happy. while the older cupid, such as parents, they job is to help people fall in love. I really like her. though she is a very unusual-looking cupid, other cupids had soft, straight hair, pink cheeks and silky white wings. whereas Willa had, a crazy curly mess hair, many freckless, and purple wings with silver tips. but it didn't bother her. I love this personality of her. she had a bestfriend, a kind girl named Harper. both of them collected many treasures and save them on their treasure chest. that's why, her pocket always full, and she often save treasures or things in her curly mess big hair. LoL.. though, most of those things were junks. one thing really bothered Willa Bean was, she couldn't fly. and on her first day in Cupid academy, she met Vivi, who really mean with her, because she commented her messy hair and other things, though, it was not really mean, in my opinion. hehehe. she's just a child afterall. in the end of this book, she finally found a reason why she couldn't fly. I love this book. it simple, and fun to read. though it really short. I read this about an hour. it's children book afterall. I love her mom, her dad, her little brother and her older sister. oh, and also her wise owl, snooze. can't wait to read the next book :) PS: Thank you NetGalley and Random House Children's Books who gave me this ebook :)

im not sure if i want to be the main character or just be her best friend. i havent fallen for a character like that in forever. totally worth the read. oh and now im desparate for a penpal. the only reason that i gave it four instead of five stars is the ending. and still totally worth reading. i laughed out loud and often wished that i had bought the book so i could mark lines that were genius or hilarious or the truth. read it. it's a keeper.
