I really liked this, it was a good read, a captivating story, full of endearing characters. I'm sure living in London helps with appreciation of this book.

All I have to say is this... wait a couple of days after reading the first book in this series until you read this one. A good friend told me that, and I was glad I did! :)

Not bad - the comic bits are very good and its an easy read. Needed more of a plot. I can't see myself reading any more with Jack in them.

I love chick lit as much as anyone else - but this book was just not so good.

good reminder of what it is like to have a 'real' job.

Didn't finish. The first twenty or so pages were for some reason so offputting that I just couldn't continue. And no, it wasn't the casual historically accurate violence, it was the way it was depicted. Good examples of that can be found in Diana Gabaldon's or Umberto Eco's writing to name just the best.

The bond between comrades during war is incredible. It resonates so deeply with me on a Christian level knowing that Christ already laid down his life for me. Hearing the powerful story of the US Army Paratroopers in WWII mapped out chronologically and rich in detail was an honor. The collection of interviews by the surviving soldiers in 1992 gave me goosebumps on many occasions. I watched the HBO mini series directed by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. I advise everyone to do the same. THEN, I stumbled upon a gem. "Beyond Band of Brothers" by Major Dick Winters. A key role model and positive example to the men of Easy wrote his own account of the war. My words are just not sufficient here. The men unanimously spoke of Winters as "the man they would follow, even into certain death."

This is one of the best novels I've ever read. There's narration by Death; a picture-book drawing, a fist-fighting Jew hidden in a basement; a foul-mouthed den mother; and best of all, there's Liesel, one tough little book thief. This book is heartbreaking without sentimentality, warm without sappiness, and breathtakingly original—READ IT!
