Oh man, another book from 11th grade english class. It is no secret that the English teacher, Ms. Bennett, harbored a fantasy that she was one of the Bennett sisters from this novel. She liked to read portions of the story in her best English accent. I should add that Ms. Bennett was rumored to have a bottle of booze stored in her desk. Ms. Bennett would also be considered an old maid who lived in her home with her giant poodle Roxanne who was often described as her best friend. Don't get me wrong, I loved Ms. Bennett. She liked to read us literature in her best old english accent, which meant that she sounded like the Swedish chef from the Muppets. In her class we read interesting books and we watched a ton of movie adaptations...including the BBC Colin Firth version of this book...which is like 9 hours of movie....imagine two weeks of watching movies in English class! Glorious! Except it was after lunch, and sitting in a darkened classroom after lunch is a recipe for nap time. What do you do? You wear a hooded sweatshirt to class and put up the hood so the teacher can't see that your eyes are closed and you doze away! This is the story of Elizabeth Bennett, the oldest sister in a family of girls, who has supposedly passed marriage years. She meets a certain Mr. Darcy, who she can't stand, yet is somewhat drawn to him. Will they ever get together? Will her freakish sisters embarrass the entire family? Why is Mr. Darcy such an ass? Find out by reading the book!

I enjoyed this book because it was light, fun, fast, and an easy read. It was only slightly offensive. Every chapter has a "History of Weddings" segment that was interesting to read.

I LOVED this book, but I could only give it three stars because it has a #%¥£^+** cliff hanger ending, and I'm going to have to wait for YEARS for the next book to come out so I can find out what happens, and my head is going to explode before that! (deep breath). Also, none of the things that I predicted (hoped) would happen, happened. Some people might think that being unpredictable makes it better writing, but I don't enjoy being wrong. Plus in this case it was almost painful when things didn't turn out the way I wanted. I would highly recommend this book, but don't read it until after the sequel comes out. Maybe after I've read the sequel I will come back and give it more stars.

This isn't the copy I read but it will do as my copy was lost some time ago and I fear it's out of print :( Suffice to say that the classic tales of Aesop have stayed with me throughout my life and I truly adored reading them as a kid. One of my favourite book of stories that I plan to share with my future children.

This is an old classic that I've never finished. I am determined to do so now. I love the fact that most of the old classics are free to download now so keep watching....... right now I am giving it a 4 I love this book it reminds me of the old Christopher Lee vampire movies my Mum would watch.
