Story wasn't very exciting. But I like the way the story unfolds. The ending is a little contrived.

Very different than his other books, but I enjoyed it for the most part. I felt like some things were left hanging at the end though.

Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this book, but their were just some parts that were confusing for me and that I did not enjoy. The "New Girl" arrives at Manderly Academy during her senior year after her parents sign her up to go to school their. I really liked seeing her try to fit in at this school but the comparisons to her and Rebecca were really strange for me. Nobody would see "the New Girl" as her own person and would think she was Rebecca. The even stranger part about this book was Rebecca's old roommate Dana. Dana was so insistent that Becca would be coming back to school, she was so mean and awful to "the New Girl" and I really could not stand that about this book. I really wish the other characters in the book would see "the New Girl" as her own person and not a copy of Rebecca and it was really hard for me to read that in this book. I did really like however, the mystery to this book and seeing what might have happened to Rebecca. In the end, I was not a huge fan of this book, but I am sure other readers will like it!

Wow! Great book! Sucked me in almost right away. A woman realtor in her early 30's is abducted from an open house. This is her story. I did think that the language was at some points a little vulgar and thought some of that could have been removed. A really tough story to read at times. I can't believe this is her first novel!

Classic book, great story. The only drawback, I had with this book, is the fact that Charlotte Bronte has a more advanced use of the English language. Found myself looking in the dictionary quite a few times.

I despise her potty-mouth words & I totally disagree with her idea of what God is. I felt out of touch with a big portion of the book since it is about compulsive eating so I didn't know the screwed up feelings toward foods that she was talking about fixing but I can identify that I am a Permitter & that I do seek out food for comfort at times & I eat on the go. I have starting chewing my food slower since reading this & thinking about if I am really hungry or not when I eat. I really love her guidelines for eating & her suggestions for meditation.

I don't really agree with Kerouac's ideas that the most genuine writing is extemporaneous and unrevised, but that is definitely what you get if you read On the Road. Again, it's been so long since I've read this that I don't remember a whole lot of what I liked and what I didn't like, but I do remember it getting somewhat tiresome once he's crossed the country a couple times.

Well written, but boring. The moments of reflection and beauty were too far apart with little to hold my attention in between. I'm glad it's over.

I couldn't put this down. Read it from cover to cover.. even all the other crap that I usually ignore (I went back after I read the book) i.e. that the author likes long walks on the beach, has a dog named Bubbles, etc. As I was reading... I thought it was an autobiography and translated by some white guy named Arthur Golden (I would like to note at this time that the book I read was a hardcover and had some Japanese writing on top. Additionally, as previously mentioned above I usually skip a lot of “unnecessary” pages). Imagine my surprise when I found out it was a fictional character AND written by a non-Japanese person AND a man. Nice job Mr. Golden. Nice job.

Perhaps it might benefit America if Mr Palast became a political advisor in the White House but under the guidance and reporting only to the voters.
