I shouldn't read books about how to be a better teacher, because then I get all inspired and start to think that I've missed my true calling. Trust me . . . being a teacher is not my true calling. Anywho, this book was very interesting, and her passion for getting kids to read was inspiring. She was kind of preaching to the choir with me, but this would be a great book for librarians to read if they aren't willing to "meet kids where they read." It did make me start thinking of whether or not I could convince all the schools in the libraries where I've worked to get rid of Accelerated Reader.

One of the few books that I've read more than once--a truly unique and wonderful retelling of "Beauty and the Beast", which actually speaks volumes especially since you know how the story is going to turn out given that its a well-known fairy tale. Just very sweet--like candy. Literary candy. But also healthy like a literary candy carrot. I make sense to me.

Found this a week early! I love Cynthia Eden and can't wait to dive in.......can't beat romance AND serial killers.
Well I have heard rave reviews and comments about this book and I do have to say that it really is a good as everyone says that it is. The book starts off slow with some background and story details but it switches between character voices and story lines that evolve into something grand. The imagery is delightful and the underliying theme is somewhat refeshing. Most books that are popular are all about vampires and magic witches and wizards. This book takes a new approch placing these themes into something tangible and not tangible at the same time. I found this book well written and put together that consantly keeps your interest and leaves you wanting more. My favorite part that really sums up the book and really tells why I love this book is the conversation that Widget has at the end. Stories can shape the future for the future is not written in stone.
This is a good book by Gantos. Maybe a little mediocre... Not as good as Hole In My Life or Love Curse of the Rumbaghs. Those two are way cool (OMG+ factor)... a must read for teens or anyone!

Redwall was an enjoyable (and quick) read, however after books with animals like Where the Red Fern Grows or, perhaps more like Redwall, Watership Down, Redwall was somewhat lacking. It was also very easy to predict the outcome which is both good and bad I suppose. The characters, however, were cute (sorry that's a terrible review word, but true) and I might pick up some of the others in the series at a later date.

This was my first read of Augusten Burroughs' work. He is very cynical and it makes for great comedy. His work is fluid and easy to read.
I liked the writing style of this book and how it was more into telling the story than just displaying facts. This isn't a book where you are going to learn about Islam as much as convert's experiences and their families reactions. I really enjoyed how it went into how the attitudes changed over time.

Chelsea Handler is my favorite comedian/talk show host. I enjoyed her book and while reading laughed so hard I cried. Definately one to re-read again and again.
