What an excellent techno thriller! Robopocalypse was a smooth and exciting read. Wilson writes like a master, though I hear this novel in among his first. The dialogue fit perfectly with each situation, with a good sense of timing the profanity to punch the point in. Again, an excellent read ..... really look forward to future novels by this young robot genius. . . .

I loved this series. I read it in high school, all borrowed from the library. Strangely enough, I never really got into her vampire series, if you can believe it. Just never really got interested, as a teen. I've thought about looking for it again. It's all been re-released now, and repackaged, with several of the books being sold all bound up together in a few omnibus editions. We'll see. These books were some of the first I read that were really "witchy." Before that, I was very much into Christopher Pike and R.L. Stine (sp?) and that sort of thing. I found the whole trilogy online used a few years ago, and was excited to read them all again. Ah, the compelling reads of our youth.

This was a fascinating blend of biography, science, ethics, and social history. The cells of a cervical cancer patient, Henrietta Lacks, have been used since the 1950s in scientific research, leading to the testing of the polio vaccine, AIDS research, cancer research, gene mapping, among other advances. However, Henrietta's family had no idea her cells were being sold to researchers until they were in labs around the world.

I had recently watched "Pride and Prejudice" (BBC, 1995) again, even the "The Making of..." featurette on the DVD. Said featurette pointed me to this book. I enjoyed this account of the rigors of movie-making - even at the mini-series level. And I'm not saying that just because there was an entire chapter devoted to an interview with Colin Firth! :)

What's better than a series you can rely on to provide solid plots with intriguing twists spiced by the occasional sexy romps? All that with ongoing character development! I love seeing the growth Elena is making, and the way her relationship with Clay deepens and matures over time. I can't think of much to say without giving away too much to those familiar with the series. I doubt this is the best place for readers new to Women of the Otherworld to start, simply because they wouldn't get the full effect of the continuity, but they wouldn't be lost, either. I loved it!

Good, consise read about the benefits (and cautions) of co-sleeping -- a term which includes bed-sharing and simply having the baby sleep in your bedroom on a separate surface (i.e. crib, bassinet, co-sleeper).
While I understand that she has had success with this, Jodi Picoult's formula is getting old . . . the different points of view, the controversial topic, the twist ending. I wish she would try a different style because I do like her stories; I'm just tired of always knowing what to expect.
Delightful patterned children's story that is great for using to teach primary students patterned writing.
