Gordon Ramsay is awesome. The thing I learned most is that he is a crazy hardworking freak. You may see him on TV and think he's and "arsehole", but deep down his passion for cooking and success is really genuine. I learned much needed colorful language as well... bollocks!!

I was hooked on her writing. They are researched history books with the character experiencing the events. This book disappointed me when I could not continue the trilogy.
Loved every second of this! Margaret George went all out in stiching this novel together; it absorbed me fully and it was almost like watching an on stage version through every page.

Lahiri's first book, a compilation of short stories won the Pulitzer in 2000. This is only her second book since then and it seems that she's trying to either complete a series or go back to the well of her success. This is also a series of short stories, although each one is around 60 to 100 pages long and they feel more more like the beginnings of novels. They mostly follow second generation Indians, who are caught between America and their homeland. An even more present theme though is loneliness. Her writing is in top form and her characters are very interesting. There's something that doesn't completely work though. While Lahiri is very enjoyable to read, I felt that this would have been stronger had she followed any of the stories through.

Like most anthologies, this is a mixed bag - a few great pieces and some mediocre ones. Robinson's notes are thoughtful, and I thought the inclusion of poetry was ambitious, if not successful. Particularly good were the R.A. Lafferty story "Boomer Flats" and Robert Silverberg's "House of Bones".
extra 1/2 star

_Jane Eyre_ is good, but for the ultimate feisty schoolmarm-angst romance, my vote goes to _Villette_. The feelgood factor is lower, but the feist is off the scale!

I loved this book. It was so creative and moving. It made me laugh and cry in such good ways.
