This was a very unique book!! Compelling, thrilling, page turning, a little gothic. I've never read a book quite like it and enjoyed it thoroughly. I'm not sure who I feel more saddened for, Robert Throckmorton, his sister Jenny, Graeme (Robert's brother) or Graeme's wife Karen. Agnes manages to subtly weave her way into this family and cause, unnoticed at first, discord in the home. My feelings for Elizabeth are paramount. She KNOWS something is amiss with Agnes and she wanted to marry Robert, but lost out to the wicked Agnes. You won't be able to stop turning the pages in this novel!! From back cover: "Agnes Samuel is an American, beautiful, witty, cool: the kind of woman people remember. She arrives among the respectable citizens of Warboys (England) like a cat among pigeons. Soon she has insinuated herself into the affections of the sleepy Fenland village, and into the heart and home of the ancient Throckmorton family. Nobody remembers another Agnes Samuel from long ago, a frightened girl betrayed by her wealthy neighbours and hanged as a witch. In WEIRD SISTER, Kate Pullinger has created a modern gothic novel. Sinister and subtle, it is a chilling feast to remember". (I TOTALLY, TOTALLY WONDERFUL BOOK!!!)

Excellent continuation of the Russ/Clare story, and great use of parallel storylines.

Ishiguro is masterful at creating ambience, and this book is worth reading for the ambience alone. The relationship dynamics are less compelling here than in his other works, and the story itself has an uncertain feel, as if the author were unsure where to take his narrator and narrative at times, but overall it's a worthwhile effort and an engaging read.

Better than Despite Everything, to me. There was more of his beautiful, funny, thought-provoking writing <3
Great book! Once you start reading it, it you can't put it down.
No matter whether you love or hate Disney, this is a pretty impressive book. With Robert Sabuda, is that really a surprise? My favorite parts were actually not the pop-ups themselves, but the panels behind which the pop-up characters were hiding. Even if there was no Dumbo, Nala, or Lumiere, the panels themselves would make this an impressive ABC book; they are painted in beautiful, textured, bold colors and patterns.

This is a slim book of poetry by Jack Kerouac. The poems are followed by letters written from Jack to his publisher Don. One can truly feel the love Jack has for Don. Even though these are simply letters, Jack's beautiful prose and spirit beams forth. In one letter he exclaims that his poem, "Heaven" contain within his his greaest wrok thus far. In fact, he says that "Heaven" is the best thing he has ever witten. I am not sure about that, but it is certainly one of his greaest poems. The rest of the poems are in his usual jazzy blues-style. I loved this small jewel...you will too.
** spoiler alert ** This is definitely my favorite Shadowlands book. You will laugh out loud at some of it. Gabrielle is an undercover for the FBI at Shadowlands, trying to stop a man who is kidnapping rebellious subs to sell them as sex slaves. Master Z is the only one who knows she's working under cover, and he forces Marcus to take her on as a trainee sub. He has to keep her for the month. There's no kicking her out. Only, she really is submissive, and she starts to fall for Marcus, and it's truly difficult for her to be bratty when all she wants to do is submit to him. She's not actually an FBI agent, though. She usually works as a victim specialist, and meets a lot of teenagers. I love it when she writes a list of the smart ass things the kids say, and starts saying them to Marcus and the other doms. I was laughing out loud at some of those scenes!

This book was OK, but I liked The Other Boleyn Girl much better.

Reading this book, you get a great insight into the social circles and inner workings of television. You also learn a lot about a popular TV personality, with some great "dishes" on other celebrities. I enjoyed the book when Walters stuck to the professional, the journalistic stuff (like her talking candidly about Israeli, Palestinian and Egyptian leadership, which was fascinating). While I recognize that her personal is part of the story, and that this is an autobiography, I am less interested in how she picked her college, or how her apartment was decorated. If you want to learn "everything" about a celebrity, then you will enjoy this book.
