I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. An unlikely love story between an Occupier and one of the Occupied during WWII...but then again...maybe not so unlikely. A good read.

Now that I've actually read the book, I liked it and it was short and moved with a quick pace. I'm happy that there's more Elias in this book I thought he and Ana had some good chemistry and it seemed that she reacted differently to him than to Nik who is still a tool. I feel like Ana was only interested in Nik because he is hot and he represents that normalcy she used to have before she discovered she is a vampire. I really didn't feel reading this book that she was into Nik that much because she always had more important things than him to worry about. I wish he were completely out of the way but I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer. Also Bea is like the wost friend ever, why Ana puts up with her, I'll never know and really her parents aren't that much better. But overall, okay book. It's nothing earth shattering but it's a good way to pass the time. I have high hopes for this book. I hope Ana can see what a great guy Elias is and not be so blinded by Nik just because he's hot and finally started paying attention to her. Because to me Nik totally sounded like a tool with the things he said and his frilly pirate shirts and leather pants...ugh. I personally don't trust his motives, but whatevs, just have to read and see:)

If an author feels the need to post a disclaimer at the end of a book explaining how she foreshadowed the horribleness of what the main character is going through at the end of the book, and then even goes on to tell her readers not to lose hope because she also foreshadowed the main character coming out of the horribleness even better than before, then that author has failed in an epic way plot-wise. Also was NOT happy with the spoon-fed regurgitation of seemingly every single thing not of the real world (but part of the world this book and the two preceding books reside in), characters, backstory, etc. For goodness sake, give your readers a tiny bit of credit for retention. I like the series, but this book could have used with some major fat-cutting and would have read much better.
Going to Nepal and, at the very least, being able to see Everest, has always been a dream of mine. Despite his claims to never have been there himself, Malfi does an excellent job of making the reader think he has! Combine that with a fantastic thriller, and you get one book that I couldn't put down. Excellently written, and masterfully executed. I highly recommend it, even if there was a severe lack of pheasant paintings.

I was torn about this book. It does center around a girl who is a lesbian. The storyline is thought provoking however. She was raised with very liberal, feminist parents and was pushed to not conform so that is why she chose to be a lesbian. It made her parents proud but she really wants to try being straight and her struggle to do it. I don't know that I could recommend it based on some of the content but it was thought provoking.

I knew the life of women in Afghanistan was grim but hadn't realised how grim. However the friendships and support between the women is inspiring.
I thought the beginning mind be confusing for children, when it doesn't count cheese as a topping... because I am an adult and think that cheese would be one topping. Anyways, I also thought it would be hard to read to just one age of a child. It starts with counting, yes, but then in the back it goes into hard fractions etc. Loved the pictures though, it made my mouth water. You might be able to read just a section of this book to a child of a certain age/level. In this way I think it might be a good teaching resource. A fun thing you could do with your kids then is actually do what is happening in the book (like make a pizza).
Claire loves these books. For me, if you've read one, you've read them all. But this is her latest favorite.

Entertaining look at some of difficulties in space travel that most people never think of. Makes me glad I'm not an astronaut!
Lovely, gentle, rich, layered, haunting. Made me happy.
