I loved this story! I watched the movie long before I picked up the book, and I wasn't sure what to expect because I had been told the book was very different from the movie, and I love the movie. I was pleasantly surprised. The book focuses more on Allie and Noah's time in the nursing home and the time when Allie comes and finds Noah after she sees the article in the newspaper, and just tells a little about the summer they fell in love, unlike the movie, which focuses a lot on that summer. Some of the events in the movie varied from what the book actually has happen. The ending is different, although the movie's ending to me was actually a sweeter one. There are many other things that are different, but they are different in a good way. I enjoyed being able to get inside Allie and Noah's heads rather than just seeing what they were doing. They don't fight incessantly like they are in the movie, and Noah is almost more of a romantic. The book, in some ways, is sweeter than the movie to me. Some of the quotes that called to me: *"So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday." *"I love you. I am who I am because of you. You are every reason, every hope, and every dream I've ever had, and no matter what happens to us in the future, everyday we are together is the greatest day of my life. I will always be yours." *"We fell in love, despite our differences, and once we did, something rare and beautiful was created. For me, love like that has only happened once, and that's why every minute we spent together has been seared in my memory. I'll never forget a single moment of it." *"The reason it hurts so much to separate is because our souls are connected. Maybe they always have been and will be. Maybe we've lived a thousand lives before this one and in each of them we've found each other. And maybe each time, we've been forced apart for the same reasons. That means that this good-bye is both a good-bye for the past ten thousand years and a prelude to what will come. When I look at you, I see your beauty and grace and know they have grown stronger with every life you have lived. And I know I have spent every life before this one searching for you. Not someone like you, but you, for your soul and mine must always come together. And then, for a reason neither of us understands, we've been forced to say good-bye. I would love to tell you that everything will work out for us, and I promise to do all I can to make sure it does. But if we never meet again and this is truly good-bye, I know we will see each other again in another life. We will find each other again, and maybe the stars will have changed, and we will not only love each other in that time, but for all the times we've had before." *"You are the answer to every prayer I've offered. You are a song, a dream, a whisper, and I don't know how I could have lived without you for as long as I have. I love you, more than you can ever imagine. I always have, and I always will." Wonderful :)

It was a great book with a lot of good points but the fact that it was written with a PhD was extremely obvious. It took a little to trudge though, but it was good.

I'm a fan of the novels of Eloisa James and was happy to start her new series about 4 orphaned sisters who are the wards of a Duke. Unfortunately I never finished this first book. I tried I really did, I picked it up and restarted it more than once and even came back to it after finishing another historical romance. There is a lot of girl talk between the sisters and very little action. While each sister is very different I just didn't care about any of them. The only potentially interesting character was their guardian, the Duke of Holbrook who is drunk most of the time. I won't pick up the books about the other 3 sisters.

And I thought this book was good when I read it in high school. When I reread it I have a better grasp of the subtle language Orwell employs and the little jokes he plays about Winston's idyllic surroundings. So the subject is fascinating and more universal than I previously thought, and yes, I think we and most people live in a variant of Oceania, and actually, most people enjoy the existence and would be lonely and insecure without some sort of Big Brother watching over them, though to point this out to many would induce nervous anxiety and possibly unpleasant psychological dissonance. Anyhow, it's worth reading and I think is one of the best English novels and also novels in English, and one of the best examples of how to use the English language.
loved this book...the human mind is so powerful. It's a gift, and we should use it to our advantage. The power of positive thinking can take you far in life and bring you much happiness.

I never would have guessed that a novel that combines the genres of steampunk, western and fantasy could be something that I would enjoy, but I was wrong. This is a fun story with likeable characters. I look forward to reading the next in this series.

** spoiler alert ** Melanie's "friend" Amanda is getting married to Allistair, a Scottish Laird, for dubious reasons. Melanie was in love with Allistair in university. Her friend Nel and Allistair's brother Angus decide to break up the wedding. Allistair realizes he's made a mistake, wants Mel.
8/10 Even though I have not read the previous books in this series I really enjoyed this book. I'm sure a few references would have made more sense to me if I had seen the glossary in the back prior to starting, but because I was reading on an e-reader, I didn't realize if was there until I finished. What I liked: Noah the male lead is sexy, hunted and maybe contaminated by the evil forces he is fighting against. (not sure if the possible contamination was cover in a previous book or not.) He and a band of warriors are fighting against powerful evil....enter Willow the female lead, she and Noah have a shared history that didn't end well. Now he needs her help to defeat the evil that wants to take over his very being. The story was exciting even if I knew where is was going almost from the start. What I didn't like: Didn't find out what happened to Damon. I liked him and wanted more. I felt like the ending was kind of weak... kinda and everyone lived happily ever after, the end.

somewhat basic for anyone who has made a film before, but some useful information and a good catalogue of Sundance shorts to checkout.
