Most of the YA novels I read are escapes to a fantasy or dystopian world. You Against Me is not such a read. Dealing with realistic issues of rape, classism, unfit parenting, and general teenage pressures, this is a much more serious book. In a sort of Romeo & Juliet style of story, Ellie and Mikey meet and fall for each other, despite the fact that Ellie's older brother is charged with raping Mikey's younger sister. Downham deals with the entire experience with grace and realism.

This was a fun, easy read. As with most anthologies, the quallity of the stories varies, but it is a worthwhile book -- and for a good cause.

There are many elements of this book that I really, really like. Military justice, courtroom drama, terrorism, faith, and redemption are all present in this well-written, intriguing story. As the first book in Brown's Navy Justice series, it's not surprising that the detailing in the story feels a bit immature though. Still a great story. The only reason I'm not giving this one five stars is that lack of detail. Specifically, the details surrounding the court case involving the three officers accused of terrorist acts seemed to be quite sparse. Since this is really the heart of the story, I would have expected more focus on that court case and less on some of the other less important aspects. I'm definitely going to have to check out the other books in Brown's Navy Justice series.

"Expressing a human need, I always wanted to write a book that ended with the word Mayonnaise." I am not prepared to rate this book as I simultaneously hated it and found certain parts almost enjoyable in their extreme absurdity.

More than just a travel memoir- this book was a real exploration of self and place and how those things interplay. I really enjoyed the way Zeppa was able to discuss the cultural intricacies and difficulties that accompany the kind of immersion she dealt with and the need to find some sort of balance between cultural relativism and not ignoring things that matter.

Disturbing. Couldn't look away - loved every minute of it.

I won't lie, I do like Chick Lit. This book was a solid version of chick lit. Three stories by three different characters whose lives intersect at various times. All with the light tone of someone having a baby here and there. Easy fun read.

Simply amazing. If everyone thought along Sagan's guidelines, I cannot see how each individual's quality of living wouldn't improve dramatically. Seriously, the word need be spread.
