Rob Lowe tells a Forrest Gumpian tale. Too bad he didn't get editing help.

If you can get past the anti-American sentiments it's a good read, although at times he delves a bit too much into science for my liking (and at 800 plus pages some of it could have been cut out).

One of my all time favorite novels. I love the history of the French Revolution and the mysticism behind the game of Chess. I suggest this to anyone- everyone. Given to me by my grandfather, the smartest man I know.

Another entertaining book by Ms. Gibson that answers the question "what happened to the guy that got away?" A fun, sexy read.

Although Burnett's books by in large are geared for a younger audience (The Secret Garden, A Little Princess), this one is skewed to a slightly older audience. It is similar to some of Louisa May Alcott's lesser known works (8 Cousins, The Inheritance, etc) and makes for a very enjoyable read. It is a well written and touching plot.

Awesome! Big fan of zombie movies, but wasn't sure how it would translate to a novel, but I was pleasantly surprised. Just wish they would make this into a film..

This was the first graphic novel I read. I love the idea that non-fiction subjects could be presented in this format. Clan Apis follows the life cycle of a worker honeybee. It's the type of book I'd like to see for required reading in schools.

So much of this book is filled with idle nothingness. I've never seen so little happen over so many pages. Its only purpose in the series is to introduce a new facet for the finale. Nothing against Mage, but they could have skipped this segment completely.

This book is very different from the others because it is not really about anyone at the Elm Creek Manor. However, it is about the birds in air quilt that Sylvia acquired form A guest at the quilt camp that was sure that it was conencted to the manor and Sylv1a's family (Run Away Quilt). As it turns out it is the story of Joanna- the first slave that the Bergstroms took into their underground railroad station. The book is heart wrenching. If you have read books about slavery you can visualize the atrocities. 15 years ago I spent almost a month traveling the vilages of Senegal, West Africa and my travels brought me to Gori Island (one of the key locations where the slave trade began). While walking through the cells... standing in the "bye bye door" and hearing from the overseer how mothers would throw their infants into the sea instead of bringing onto the slave ships...I could almost feel their dispair- their fear of all the people that were dragged to a destiny they did not want. AND... sadly it reminds me how people make the same mistake over and over all of the world. Do we never learn??? As I read about Joanna's plight, I think of all the men- women- children whose only goal was to "keep on breathin' until they found freedom."
