One of my favorites of all time.
Needless to say, this book was due at the library before I could finish it. I was really enjoying it, and will get on the library list again!!
I want to read this again. Very thought provoking.

I enjoyed this twist on the May-December romance with a look at these relationships down the line. Now in their sixties, the older men in this book at looking back at their lives and relationships and thinking about where they are. I enjoyed the secondary characters very much and how they interacted and influenced the lives of these couples. Not what I expected, and sweet. from the back: "Popular Brithish TV personality Hugh Hunter has begun feeling resentful toward his much younger, seemingly perfect wife, Julia. For while his own star is on the wane, Julia's is rapidly ascending. James Mallow, a teacherm has shared eight blissful years with Kate Bain, his junior by a good quarter century. But his devoted longtime partner appears restless these days. Then a freak rush hour accident knocks a fiercely independent spinster from her bicycle-an event that will have a profound and wildly unanticipated impact on two unothodox unions"

Chuck Foster is perhaps best known in LA for his wonderful Sunday reggae radio show and articles in Beat Magazine. His book Roots, Rock, Reggae captures numerous interviews with several important and loved reggae musicians- a perfect addition to any reggae lover's collection. Nonetheless, this book is tough to get through via Chuck's rather dry and mechanical writing style. It nearly put me too sleep. The Discography section in the back makes the book worth keeping.

This book basically approaches today's masculinity, male emasculation, and other words that I have to look up from a different Christian perspective. I enjoyed most of it.
If there was a zero star rating, I would have used it

This book admittedly starts out a little slow, but once the focus shifts from Garp's mother to Garp, it is a truly great story that spans the entire life of its main character. Additionally, it contains stand-alone short fiction hidden within its pages, as the main character, T.S. Garp, is a writer. The short story "The Pension Grillparzer" within the novel alone makes it worth reading. Oh, and remember to "beware the undertoad."
