Friedman makes some thought provoking arguments for sweeping changes in alternative energy policy. However, his writing tends to be redundant and his repeated use of the book's title, "hot, flat and crowded" became annoying. There are points where he seems to be stretching the topics - appearing as though he was fulfilling a contractual agreement to write so many words in the book deal. Friedman also made efforts to establish lack luster hook phrases, unmemorable acronyms and words that never gained traction enough to move beyond the book's covers and into the American lexicon. The final irritation for me was Friedman's isolationist, arrogant militancy - presumably aimed at appealing to American nationalistic sympathies. He is a difficult man to figure out because, at times he seems to rant against conservative American ideals at certain points in this tome, but then skewers Dubya for failed policies and botched opportunities when he seems to embrace policy notions popular among American liberals. I find Friedman's style to be very controlled in delivery of that messages he considers to be important - so much so that there his tone conveys a lack of confidence in his audience's ability to reach conclusions on their own. Considering his topic is aimed at convincing his intended reader on an intellectual level, it seems counter intuitive to lead someone like that by the nose. Actually, I purchased "The Lexus and the Olive Tree" when I bought this book and I'm now regretting having done so. I am not sure I want to read any more of his books.

Dr. Viv Harris’s book, “A Holistic Guide, Natural Remedies – Dogs and Cats Wish You Knew”, is a complete guide to keeping your pet healthy through natural treatments, regardless if you are maintaining, healing or creating your pets life style. After reading this book I agree that all the dogs and cats with owners wished their owners knew the information and heeded the advice found in this book. Not only does this book address diet and health issues for the young to very old, it also examines and explains behavior issues, similar to “Caesar’s” way of teaching on his TV show. The part of this book I found very helpful was when to say “good-bye” to your four legged companion. Saying “good-bye” while helping them to remain dignified in their passing, what we as their human’s should and should not do. I wish I had read this book sooner, for recently we have lost two four legged loves, one that was almost 17 and another that was almost 15. If I had read this book I would have been able to read their messages to me clearly and hopefully could help them with their passing. To often we look to medical procedure’s to handle what we do not understand, or do not want to understand and with a little knowledge about what comes naturally to our four legged loves and to ourselves we can make their world and ours a happier place. I recommend this to pet lovers and pet owners of all ages no matter the owners age or the age of their pet, for age is just a number, and numbers don’t mean a thing to our four legged loves.
