I read this quite a few years ago and I think I found it hard to stick with - but I was so interested that I did finish it. (and am glad I did)

Great light read. Different from her many other books. I love Pride and Prejudice so I would be interested to hear how someone who didn't like that, liked this book

This book is more relevant now than ever. Developing economies are facing a perfect storm worldwide. As the global financial crisis tightens its grip on developed economies, their demand for imported products and services as well as basic commodities, has plummeted, leaving emerging economies in an unprecedented state of vulnerability. Millions of people live in the megacities of these countries and their corrupt governments have fewer resources at their disposal to mitigate the effects of the crisis. Millions of people are already facing food and water scarcity, millions more will join them in the next few years unless the developed world makes a concerted effort to provide the support and sustained funding they need.

Gaige is the Chief Captain of the Guard of the High Sorcerer. He is known as the White Panter, both for his hair colour, white blond, then for the glacial behaviour he has on duty. And now he is on mission to find and kill the leader of the draegan rebels, a group of dragon shapeshifters. All the draegan were slaughtered by the Sorcerer and his men, and few of them survive. Keiran, their leader, his young and idealist, and from the very first time he has the chance to be with Gaige he understands that his feeling for Gaige is not only desire, but a primal need... like those he could feel for a soul mate. Both Gaige and Keiran are strong characters, but Gaige is more tormented, he keeps too many secrets inside, and can't love openly. Instead Keiran, even when discovers the defeat of Gaige, can't stop to love him. And put him in front of his people. A very enjoyable reading, with the right dose of love and adventure. And I have the feeling that M.L. Rhodes plans to write more of these two... http://www.amazon.com/dp/160272945X/?...

Reading Arthur in verse may be a harder slog than prose, but Tennyson makes it well worth it. You can read it online: http://www.worldwideschool.org/librar... although I found the footnotes contained in the Penguin addition essential to understanding Tennyson's allusions. Don't miss chapter 10, when Arthur will make your heart sing with his recollections of the early days of the Round Table....then break as he confronts Guinevere.

A story that makes you laugh, cry, hate, love, and all sorts of other feelings. How much can one person do when an entire society has surrendered it's soul to mad men? Is it better to live just "going along", or keep your soul and lose your life?

A steampunk (some say THE steampunk) novel of intrigue and art amongst the intricate darkly beautiful city of New Crozubun. Magnificant in it's scope. Not an ounce of lightness in it though.
Laura Ingalls Wilder is a not-so-distant relative of mine - perhaps that is part of why I was so captivated by her stories as a child.
