You will want to read this in a class. The essays included in this anthology are what crafted the study of art since the 18th century. Preziosi accomplished the purpose of creating a somewhat chronological progression of art historical writing while simultaneously grouping essays by methodology. This means that one might find themselves comparing essays from the 18th century, turn of the 20th century, and the 1990s. Yet, it is effective at allowing the reader to see the progression of the study of art and, I would say, essential for the understanding of art and art history from a post-modern perspective.

absolutely one of the 10 best books i've ever read. probably top 5 if i had to say. Challenging, complex, ironic, wonderful and heartbreaking – probably a lot like India herself.

Interesting. I've never read Boyd before, so this was fun: a new author. I'm not sure I'll read him again, however... What does that say? I gave this 3 stars b/c I did enjoy the book and I didn't "get the ending" until the end. I learned a great deal about espionage by the Brits in the USA before Pearl Harbor. I liked Eva, Ruth's mother, during the war bit. But there were a few things I really disliked about the book, too: 1) EMOTION. There was none. I missed it. Very weird. and 2) It's hard for me to read a book written by a man from the stand-point of a woman. Some men can do it (and, of course, vice versa), but in this instance... Boyd wrote too much like, well, a guy.

I loved Princess Bride and this had a promising premise, but it came together rather disappointingly and suddenly. Yeah, he laid the framework, but the oomph wasn't there and it felt kind of by the numbers. It did have some enjoyable bits, but the fun died when-- spoiler, never mind. An enjoyable enough read, sort of a summer/travel weekend book and not a huge loss if you leave it behind because the ending you imagine missing out on feels more fun than the rote written one you'd read.
Definitely have to re-read at some point.
kinda disappointed with this book but the first book of this trilogy was awesome and i'm really excited to see how will the movie does. "PRAISE FOR THE HUNGER GAMES"
Fun story.
My good friend Avital says I am a Milo. I suppose she could be right.

Book 3 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. It is based on Zsadist, a blood slave for a hundred years. This book is one of my favorites of the series. It is heartbreaking, uplifting, and just incredible. Plus alot of the other characters really start to take shape in this book. Once again for adults only.

This is an excellent book and a wonderful example of how powerful poetry can be, even for younger readers. I just bought a copy for my library!
