Great writing, but completely heart-wrenching. It really makes you feel glad that we live in a time where we're not financially dependant on men.

jodi picoult does a great amount of research for her books - always interestingly factual. this one got me right fomr the beginning. reminded me a bit of "we were the mulvaney's".

I just can't get into this "radical" scientific stance. Even though I sympathize and believe in feminism and sustainability (and spirituality), my intuition says there's something wrong here. Black and white feminism? As another reviewer on Goodreads wrote, "it's written in academese oppression-speak..."

Nice book on ecology and caring about your environment for children. Artwork is well done, and it doesn't get boring when you've read it a few dozen times.

solid writing by a resident and native of Illinois. Paul Findley knew Lincoln through readings, very well. It shows in this book.

As always, I enjoyed this book from the coffeehouse mystery series. My only complaint about the book was that it seemed to start a little slow. Other than that, a good cozy mystery and I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

It was very different in comparison to the first book--all of them are, but I didn't like it as much as I did the first book. It had a lot of great ideas but I felt like L'Engle was too theoretical and there wasn't as much plot or as much understanding of the happenings therein. It wasn't as sentimental as the first book. It's hard to pin down my feelings on it because it felt like L'Engle wasn't sharing as much with us, almost as though we were distant from Meg, when she was the one who was carrying us into the story.

This reminded me a bit of Prydain and Lord of the Rings combined. There seemed to be a bit more of the setting and magic explained than in Prydain but more character development than Lord of the Rings. It was a well spun tale but since I listened to most of it on audiobook while driving I feel like I shorted myself a bit. Overall it was good, but not awesome.

You know when when you finally read or watch something after years of thinking about it and it is such a disappointment because it was so much better in your imagination? That was this. It was perfect in my head. All the wonky bits were smoothed, the plot was tightened, the drama and horror heightened by all the adaptions and summarizations I've seen and then molded in my head to make a custom product. I almost feel bad because how many things can live up to that? Still... I'm glad I didn't read it in school because it doesn't make much sense. it just wafts about like perfumed air. Can you imagine writing an essay about a book that doesn't really have a point if you think about it too hard because it is too self-contradictory and half-baked? Well I guess I would have probably written an essay on how gay it was anyway. which... now that I think about it... probably was the point.
A remarkable and inspiring book. Barack Obama has a far wider range of experience than I could hope for a President. The book also showed a deep evaluation of his own values in life and incredible insight and empathy toward understanding others. In particular, his experience as an organizer for some of the more rundown areas in Sough Chicago are wonderful to have an appreciation for the lives of people at the opposite end of the scale to typical presidential candidates. All of which gives me a lot of confidence...
