I stopped counting, but I know I read this book many times already. It's my most beloved novel and I don't know where to begin with explainig why. I always had a weakness for historical romance, because secretly and deep inside I'm a hopeless romantic. The setting alone screams out the romance. Elizabeth is also my favorite book heroine and I love everything about her. She is strong, has her own will and opinion and doesn't just settle for a rich man. She actually wants to feel something, fall in love first. I think that's very normal, but in this time period it's important to marry well. Elizabeth thinks that's ridiculous. And Mr.Darcy.... In real life every woman is looking for her Mr. Darcy. Although he seems very arrogant and stuck up, Darcy is the most charming man. Jane is also a favorite. I like how she is so gentle and only wants to see the good in people. Along the way of rereading it, I was again filled with such good feelings of recognition. It's a joy to read this book, every single time. "Pride and Prejudice" is romance like it should be, full of wit and unforgetable moments. If you have never read it, shame on you!

What can I say? I'm into the whole water theme at the moment! This short novella (my version was less than 100 pages) was an adventure from start to finish. About an old man who decides to go out farther than usual in his skiff after 84 days of nothing. He nets the biggest marlin he's ever seen, and then runs into some trouble on the way home. Though chocked full of metaphorical/figurative implications, the literal read is also very satisfying. Could have finished the whole thing in one sit down, but wanted to savor it over the space of a few days.
LOved the style of narration..

Holmes - what a guy! Written, of course, long before political correctness had any place in the world. So, our man is something of a rock star for his time, a drug user, very anti establishment, arrogant, charming &c. Part of the charm of this is it's innocence, the notion that you could follow a sniffer dog across London is a delight. The line between good guys and bad is blurred, as it often is with Holmes. If you think you know the characters, but haven't actually read any of the stories, do yourself a favour. You can smell the river - and the tobacco directly from the page. Wonderful.

This book was really good. I have never heard of this author before. I look forward to more of her books. I liked the twist and turns and the action and mystery. Although I had a good idea of who did it before it was revealed I liked this book. I had a hard time putting it down.
What REALLY happened to that Band of Brothers as they gingerly subdued the German army in WWII.

Interesting stories, some a bit surreal, almost fable-like, but vivid and concrete.

This is a stand alone, not a Spenser. I guess I really enjoy the writing style of Robert B Parker, no matter the subject or the character. This jumps in time and geography. Quite the convolution. Thoroughly leisure reading at its best.

It was ok.....I thought about putting it down a few times because I was expecting something a bit more funny, but the last few chapters were much better.
