While I love different books at different times for different reasons, this is my all-time favorite book, and likely will always be. Even after a dozen reads, it continues to rouse me with its rich language and the questions it raises about being a woman.

Cut Through the Bone is full of crisp, simple sentences and deceptively "normal" people waterlogged by loss, in its many forms. This book left me aching (in a good way). My favorite stories in CTTB (meaning most memorable) are More Than Gone, On the Loose, Under the Scalpel, Scraps, The Trip, Fish, Crazy, and Cut Through the Bone. Now I can't wait to read Ethel Rohan's forthcoming collection Hard to Say.

Way too many flashbacks in this one for my taste. Still good, but I wish we could move past the angst now.

I liked some of the gothic fiction I recently read, but not this. It all seems so arbitrary and lacking in narrative purpose.

This is a great book to turn into a Storytelling experience. "Fuzzbuzzoncetherewas...."
This was a disapointing book. I love George MacDonald... But this main character was so openly retarded and childish, I couldn't stand him. I barely forced my way through some parts. None of it was fantastical enough to make up for the lack of good plot or characters. Some things were ok, a couple even good moments, but I felt like my time was largely wasted. It was written well, though. Sometimes too wordy and forced, and fake feeling.
It's so damn good, I didn't want it to end!
The plot was good but I would've enjoyed the book more if Dan Brown was actually able to write.
Another self-absorbed man writes a book about how great he is.
