This is a good book but I thought it was not as good as The interview with the vampire. It was not as explosive as I expected. I also had a problem with the ending. I thought Pandora deserved more as a character. The book spent too much time analyzing life or philosophy and not enough time on Pandora's story.

The series has a good plot/storyline, however the writing isn't that great. And it can have overbearing Christian tones to it at times. Overall, the series is okay - nothing great not the worst.

Pretty engaging, however the language and some violence seems too mature for my 6th graders. High school would be more appropriate.

I have my favorite authors as most people do but decided to give someone else a try while I waited for the latest from Feist and Brooks. I was quite please with this book and look forward to starting the next chapter. While I found some parts a bit long and the characters were constantly getting out of one jam and falling right into another the store held me and kept me wanting to read on.

Letts is an Oklahoma writer, hence my parents recommendation. I really liked the story and the colorfulness of the characters. This is the best of Letts' books.

I usually love Scott Westerfeld, but was warned that this one wasn't one of his top books. It started lame as I don't get very into mechs and it immediately made me think of mech animes. Near the middle I was sort of pulled into the altered animal creations, then near the end I lost interest again. The book focuses too much on Westerfelds excitement over these new animal and machine creations and not enough on actual plot. The girl was cool as in she wasn't a very lovable character, but I felt overall that the kids all had too much power in the military. They seemed more like generals than low soldiers or newbies to their positions. I have like ten pages left so maybe something uber cool was still happen....I'm not holding my breath though.
