I am in love all over again with Walter Mosley. I am sure you all know how much of a fan I am of him. This is a all new mystery series and it is really, really good. Pick it up and enjoy.
This was really dark. I learned that you are always curious about what has become of people that have occupied part of your life be it good or bad.

This book has the ability to make you look very silly as you stifle a smirk on the bus so that people will not think you are mad - while reading on another joke makes you try and stifle the urge to laugh out loud causing snot to shoot from one's nose, making you look extemely silly! Great book, heart renching ending - even though it's the second time I have read this I laughed heartily and cried miserably once again. I would recommend this to everyone who has a sense of humour, even if the subject of cricket puts you off. Yes, there are lots of bits about cricket - but there is alot more to it than that. Read, enjoy and carry a tissue for the snot.

The first half or so is pretty good, but I really had a hard time caring about the main character at all.

Exciting and quite graphic (i.e. opium use). Good picture of Victorian times and again an interesting female heroine. Good cast of characters. Tiger adds a lot of interest with use of immigration issues (Jews in London). Princess has much less of Sally, and although the main characters (Becky, Jim and Adelaide) are engaging, I missed Sally a lot, as well as the setting in England. This story takes place in the fictional country of Razkavia.

#7 in series - #2 in historical order I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. I was really going to give it only 2 stars but it picked up towards the end, earning itself 3 stars. I'm actually glad I read this book because it goes further back in history then I've read before which helps put everything in perspective with what happens next. It's also nice to figure out who all these people were and what role they played in history. I really should have read the #1 in historical order first, but couldn't get my hands on it.
In Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell talks about Geniuses, and what it takes to be a Genius. His premise is essentially that genius is not something that an individual is born with. It's not fate, and it's not genetics. To Gladwell, genius requires a tremendous amount of hardwork, and a tremendous amount of opportunity. He discusses the early lives Bill Gates and Robert Oppenheimer, the great depression, and a whole host of factors that contribute into someone being great at something. In the end I think his message is mixed. He seems to be saying that both anyone can be a genius, and almost no one can be a genius. And from his arguments, it makes sense. This book is a good read with a generally light, conversational tone.

I have read this book many times, starting when I was just a kid. The story will really pull you in and keep you hooked until the end. A classic indeed!
