Greenwood is a great creator of worlds, and I found the reality of the Niflheim Dark Elves quite absorbing, but too much of the culture and history was explained through character conversation in a way that sounded very forced. There was clearly a lot the author wanted to cram into this book, and so the reader is assailed with a myriad of characters early on making it very difficult to keep tabs on which minor character is which. The plot itself was engaging and kept me reading.

will not change your life as more serious literature may, but this is my kind of book: fast-paced mystery, international intrigue, drama, murder, use/misuse of political power - the plot of a good action movie. enjoyable, as good as grisham in my opinion.
I'm still trying to read this book. It's hard to get into. I will pick back up after i finish the book i'm readding

I've read a few of his books and they are starting to get a bit redundant. With that said, I enjoy his outlooks on a lot of topics and feel I can relate with most.

I wanted to read this book before I went and saw the movie, mostly because the movie looked so interesting. I absolutely loved this book. The characters were well developed and you could tell the author spent time on researching dragon lore and legend. By the way, the Eragon movie sucked hard core. If you liked the movie, then you shouldn't read the book because then you'll feel bad for having such bad taste. :p

I found this novel about cutting-edge technology and the new realm of crime and terrorism to be overly predictable. Dan Brown may have been trying too hard to write a "mature" thriller here.
Good thought experiment and fast read. Mr. Hall, however, is not so great at dialog.
it was a book to read when you're looking for something light. it's sweet, sad, funny, and immediately made me miss when my dog was a puppy (some of the stories sounded way too familiar).

Read in less than 24hours. I could become a true addict of this series. Mac grows further still in this 2nd book in the fever series, she learns more and gains attitude. Something she will need in abundance as she gathers enemies at a fair rate. She is still unravelling the mysterious world she finds herself in, there is no turning back so she may as well equip herself to survive. The relationship with Barrons, matures only slightly. She understands now that his motivations maybe self-serving in their basis but she can rely on him to help her stay alive. Again the romantic undercurrent is there, this was my only frustration with the book. A little more pace would have added to the storyline for me. Mac still feels like she is battling the Fae world alone in this episode of the Fever saga. Never the less, I've moved straight onto book 3! I'm on a role.

The Series of Unfortunate Events is a collection of well, unfortunate events that I read many years ago as a teenager. We follow three orphaned siblings, Violet, Sunny, and Klaus as they search for a place to live and family to love after their parents are killed in a house fire. The book cover may lead you to believe this a children's book, which it is, but it's not your normal type. It's filled with dark and depressing misfortunes that these kids suffer. There are no happy endings, so I don't recommend this book series for the light-hearted. However, if you are like me, and want to follow Violet, Sunny, and Klaus as they escape these miserable times, please immerse yourself into A Series of Unfortunate Events!!
