Great speculative fiction, rich, living characters. What if a little girl engineered the first bridge connecting Brooklyn to Manhattan, 100 years before the historical bridge was built?

This was a very good continuation of Stirling's trilogy. I enjoyed the fact that he expanded his fictive universe to include what is happening post-Change is other parts of the world, including the UK, Australia, and Tasmania. These books are fun reading and I admire the attention to detail and the extensive research that must have gone into their construction. I feel a little guilty blowing through them so fast because they must have taken Stirling hundreds of hours of labor. If you like this genre, you will find this second book as satisfying as the first.

Not my favorite of her books but still managed to hold my attention. Disappointed in the ending.

I couldn't get over the fact that I had previously known so little (really nothing) about the Mormon faith and it's beginnings. The fact that it grew and continued to attract members astounds me. I know that it has been called "anti-Mormon", but has anyone refuted the facts as presented?

Wicked good! 4 stars for the romance, 5 stars for the creative writing ..and creativity always wins! A vivid painting of characters and their feelings..it was all in the details..oh! the delicious details and observations..It was like figuring out the complexity and meaning behind an artwork instead of dismissing it as "pretty" with its profusion of shapes and colors. Simple observations..yet so much thought in them. When the hero finds his cheating fiancée in bed with another man instead of calling him out to a duel which the hero was sure to win, he decides to take revenge in an unorthodox manner..must say! it was thoroughly entertaining and darkly amusing..revenge has never been more fun! But I did wonder why he even bothered, as he had not been truly in love with his fiancée..all this for hurt pride? And this is where I fell 'a little in love' with the writing.. the hero in his internal musings described his feelings for the aforesaid fiancée with a touch-a-chord-simplicity by saying, "She'd been a...hope." I loved that, I don't know why that was so effective..but it was (to me). That was just the beginning.. This was a book where I could literally feel them falling in love.. it was personal, almost like reading someone's diary. It was equally descriptive from both the hero and the heroine's point of view.. I liked them both.. Okay! I fell in love with the hero long before the heroine did.. that part made me give a 4 star to the romance.. the kind, thoughtful, very intelligent, observant h held on to her ideal -love for the wimpy harry- beyond a point of confusion to d-uh thinking.. I can identify with both the confusion and d-uh thinking, but I thought she was smarter than me...apparently not! Only, I realized that, her stubborn mind-set resulted in a dramatic and oh! so satisfactory happily ever after that an overall 5 stars thanks to all the drama and energized writing is absolutely justified. If this is a series, there were not many other characters other than the heroine's sister who seemed interesting enough to deserve a book of their own.. I would love to be proved wrong. Have to ask, whats with the title?..am I missing some brilliant satire?

Larry Winget is a character. He writes with a no-nonsense attitude and tells it like it is. This is not your typical motivation/new-age/rah-rah flavor of the month. Winget is in your face from start to finish. Good tips, interesting examples, and his own experience make it worth while. Yes, his attitude occasionally comes across as a shtick, but the book is full of good tips for both the corporate worker bees, managers, and business owners. And it's fun read to boot. Recommended.

¡Altamente recomendado!
