This book isn't simply another huge tome bemoaning the state of black people in America and pointing fingers at everyone that could possibly be to blame, it's really a rallying cry for all Americans to better themselves, and for the affluent black community to start sending a message that there is hope, that they can look to their community for support, and that hard work and good education still counts for something. I got so excited about this book when I first read it, and I really need to go back and look at it again.

It was very disturbing and creepy in almost every way. It kept jumping everywhere and I kept getting lost. I didn't like the characters either. This was the first bad vampire book I have ever read.

It was lovely to see Sarah and Grey the parrot again. This was very different from Lackey's other Elemental Masters books but I really enjoyed this. A welcome change in the series.

It was good. I thought it would be funnier though. Full of wit and satire. I loved how he poked fun of the very stuffy English and their grand Arthurian legends. The Bugs Bunny cartoon, A Conneticut Rabbbit in King Arthur's Court" is now twice as funny after having read the book.

katherine dunn is brilliant. this book is perfectly wierd and engaging. also sickening, and lush with detail about this family of circus freaks bred from crystal lil who took mad experimental drugs duraing her pregnancy to alter her babies. Her justification: "what greater gift could you offer your children than an inherent ability to earn a living just by being themselves?" this book is a trip. how the cult of arturo voluntarily amputates limbs with the promise of enlightenment was a recurring theme in my dreams for awhile after reading this. read it if you can stomach it.

I got married just about a year ago so the memory of how stressful wedding planning can be is still relatively fresh in my memory. In this book, Becky is torn between the wedding that her parents want to plan in her hometown in England and a all expenses paid wedding at the Plaza Hotel by her beau's mother, a woman who makes Cruella D'Vil look like a total sweetheart. Becky wants to make everyone happy but will she speak up before it's too late? Becky Bloomwood is an incredibly lovable character. I love the Shopaholic books so much. They're light and fun and perfect mind candy type of books. This installation is another good one. This book continues the fun and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next installation in this series.
