love the author
** spoiler alert ** Trash! Absolute trash! But I read it anyway :) I mooched this ages ago, I can't even remember why. Every now and then I would pick it up, glance at the first few adjective-plastered pages, and quickly put it down again. But I was short of books, and it seemed an ideal choice for a holiday when I planned to do little but lounge around. I certainly wouldn't have finished it if I hadn't been on holiday. Overblown, overloaded with adjectives and lengthy descriptions, melodramatic. One of those books where the poor-but-plucky heroine is living a happy life until almost her entire family is wiped out in a serious of freakish events, two of them involving Jack the Ripper. After many struggles, delays, reversals, and implausible events, everything turns out right in the end and she makes her millions and is reunited with her true love. I feel a bit guilty about wasting several hours of my life reading this, but I won't read any more books by Jennifer Donnelly.

This book is about some Spirits in the Premortal life and their struggles to choose the Plan of Salvation or to follow Satan. Obviously a lot of artistic license was taken and the author states that at the beginning of the book. It was interesting, but a little slow. I hear the others in the series are better than the first one.

I thought this was a pretty good book, although very predictable.

Warning: If you have not read the first two novels of the trilogy, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, I wouldn't read this review. It's impossible to describe this last book without giving away key events in them. Saved from the Capitol's wrath and safe inside the rebel base of District 13, Katniss begins this story in agony over Peeta's capture and assumed torture. While she tries to recuperate and mend the holes in her life, she always becomes a crucial part of the rebel's plans. She becomes the Mockingjay, the figure which the starving citizens of other districts can rally around. She is their symbol of hope and strength. While this all weighs on her, she still must deal with the fact that many of her friends and allies are suffering because of her. Will they win against the Capitol? Will Katniss ever see Peeta alive again? I guess you'll have to read and find out.

I finished this book quite quickly as well, and it was a good read. The book is different from what I've read before, both in style, form and content, but essentially it's a story of a man being chased while falling in love. So it's not that original or weird, hence I liked it more (I don't like overly pretentious books!). Kind of weird ending but overall I'd recommend it.
The naming might not be particularly innovative, but it's a strong sequel.

OK so its for class, but its a really incredible memoir- Joyce Johnson was Jack Kerouc's girlfriend at the time On the Road came out, and is a reflective and talented writer herself

三部曲的另一个激动人心的结局。我会伤心地看到它完成了,但我在这个故事是如何结束的这么开心!
