Kể Chuyện Bác Hồ - Tập 7 Thư viện Sách hướng dẫn

Sách được viết bởi Bởi: Trần Văn Thắng

To anyone who has ever pined away to go to India but doubts they ever will... read this book! This author's writing was so vibrant, so colorful, so funny and tongue-in-cheek, that I really felt like I was there in India with her. Even better, she spent a lot of time touring various parts of the country due to the fact that she didn't really have a job during the long-term time she was there (she moved there for her husband's job), so we get to see a LOT of nooks and crannies of India that I didn't know existed. I didn't know there were Jewish Indians, Zarathustrian Indians, and Indians who worship gurus who believe an alien is communicating through them. Well, I guess all those things are perfectly believable, I'd just never read about them before! There's even weirder stuff than that too... lots of guru-worship, where as a third-party observer, it's up to you to judge whether the guru is for real or just some freak totally fooling people. Part of me has always wanted to go to India but am convinced I would hate every minute of it due to the issues the author writes of... the grinding poverty, the intense crowding, the heat, etc. And I'm still convinced that's true, but at least now I almost-sort-of feel like I have been there due to all the wonderful details and experiences in this book. The author's personality and writing style also really struck a chord with me; she's very down-to-earth, gritty, straightforward, and no-nonsense, and that made her explorations of India (particularly the spiritual and more New Age-y aspects) more palatable and real to me. This wasn't some hippy-dippy flower child talking about her experiences expanding her mind in an Indian ashram--this is a hard-boiled journalist telling it like it is. Although she did keep a very open mind throughout, and that also helped me embrace some of the weirder stuff and enjoy reading about it and giving it the benefit of the doubt.
