I wanted to read the classic vampire book among all the vampire hype lately and am I glad I did. Dracula is a compelling and scary story, even though anyone who pays any attention to pop culture would know the general plot. However written in journal entries from a few of the characters perspective the story unfolds and is really compelling. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

A good handbook on which to always fall back to find topics on the Brontes.

Sure it's overly sentimental, not very subtle, and listening to the audiobook (read by Hosseini himself) brings out the weaknesses in the language, but it's a plot-rich page turner and it just plain got me. It also got many of my reluctant inner-city 12th graders and they voted it their favorite book of the year in the yearbook, so that has to stand for something.

I learned alot about myself from this book. I liked it alot. Lot of self discovery. A few answers to the "what now" questions but otherwise a great eye opener.
If you'd like to learn about wine, but think it would be soooooooo boring, grab this book. It answers gobs and gobs of questions you might have about the wine you are drinking.

A decent read, but not very inspiring. Something so standoffish and disengaged runs a risk, but every word was a treat so I kept going. I do not feel particularly enriched now. The lack of development-over-time of the characters is made up for by a steadfast stubborness in reinforcing their basic characteristics. Sounds boring, but it was a delightful boring. Would rather read something more interesting written in this delightful way.

It took me entirely too long to read. Why I decided to read such an epic novel at the time I did boggles me. I enjoyed it immensely. It did drag out in parts but I thought it was great. There are a few things I was not too happy about and didn't understand why he chose to put some of the things he put it but regardless. EPIC!

Just a fun, quick read. I bought it at a drugstore to occupy me through all of our flights recently.

The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde Like I always do, I read the second book first, so this book was a little odd as I already knew the characters, but they were a step backwards from the ones I'd met. I didn't enjoy it as much as the The Fourth Bear, but I'm not sure why. I love the idea that nursery rhymes are real and their deaths have to be solved, but this one seemed over complicated. Sometimes I couldn't remember which character went with which name. As much as I love Ashley, I don't get why aliens are in this universe. They're completely unrelated to nursery rhymes. Overall an enjoyable book that has the much needed 'pull', but isn't as good as other works of Jasper Fforde. Regardless, I'll still be on the hunt for the third and fourth books.
