This book took me WAY by surprise. It sounded great on the cover, bought it on a whim on the bargain bookshelf, and picked it up on a day when I couldn't stomach even one more minute of pharmacy talk. The beginning was slow, and I didn't even think I was going to get to the middle - as much as I loathe doing it, I thought it was going to have to be one of those books I just don't ever finish. And then...something happened. Nothing concrete. No huge plot twists or dramas. But I connected with the characters in this really rare way, and found myself reading about their lives in ANY spare moment - while waiting for my computer to reboot, while syncing my phone, while brushing my teeth.... Needless to say, it didn't take long to read, and it was a fantastic (but not 5 stars bc I so disliked the whiny, self-pitying beginning) book with which to spend a couple of rainy afternoon/evenings! PS - she used the word "precocious" more times than I have ever heard in my entire life combined. Forgiven..but just barely!

I love stories having to do with time travel and going back to another time for a "do over" was the premise of this book. The whole story was put together so wonderfully. Who among us have not wondered what our life would be like if just one little part was different.

Now they have to organize a new one with very little money and they're not sure if everyone is going to go. They have a lot of things to do when the prom is comping up soon. Her friend Natalia injured her leg and she's in a wheelchair now Ashley needs to get things ready from the help of the pink notebook that her friend has made for her. Inside the notebook contains the to do list that needs to be done for the prom like renting tables and chairs. When Ashley organized the prom also from the help of her friend, which in the first place she was really helping out Natalia, and she discovered she couldn't go to the prom. Since she has too many detentions she was on the list of people who couldn't go to prom. But with the help of her mom Ashley sneaks in prom and has some fun with her friends.

Very imaginative and a good adventure. Narrative can be a mouthfull in parts, but overall well written with strong character development and great fantasy elements. Emotionally satisfying and some surprisingly raw moments of violence. The theological thread is appropriate to the intended young reader audience, though I found it tiresome.

Andrea Gillies is an excellent teacher. I learned more about dementia from this book than from anything I have read so far. I also learned about Andrea's all too human heart. She is an amazing survivor-caretaker. Bravo for all you did for your family, Andrea. I also wanted to say that the cover art is perfect for the story- the little world surrounding an armchair, with a woman's blurred outline just on the edge of the picture perfectly captures what Andrea described. Nancy became a blur of motion and speech which gradually faded into nothingness. I remember years ago when I was in grade school, my dad came home from a house call (he is a podiatrist). He told me that a person's life gets smaller and smaller as they get older, and eventually it includes just their arm chair and the surrounding area.
