I have put this book back on my shelves after creating a shelf enitled "not-to-read". It sounds interesting so I want to make sure I never pick it up by mistake.

HER DEAR & LOVING HUSBAND was an intriguing combination of historical fiction and paranormal romance. The book's blurb does an excellent job of summarizing the story, and to avoid spoilers, I don't want to add too much more. I have a fascination with the Salem Witch Trials, so I was drawn into this story right away. The author brought that terrible time to life through vivid and chilling details in the characters' flashbacks. This was a character-driven story. The romance between the main characters, James and Sarah, is rather sweet, and the love scenes are mild. They both come into their relationship with heavy emotional baggage, which keeps things from getting too hot and heavy quickly. I love how James was so patient with Sarah, and he gave her time to come to terms with his secrets. I enjoyed how the author wove together past events with the present. For example, there is a reporter in the book investigating vampires with the intent to "out" them to society. James is determined not to let that happen, because he doesn't want vampires hunted and persecuted the way witches were in Salem. HER DEAR & LOVING HUSBAND is a well crafted gothic romance and nicely researched historical novel in one. The pacing was slow in places, but overall the story held my interest. If you're looking for a sweet love story with paranormal elements, this book is sure to please. I give it 4 out of 5 stars! I received my copy from the author through Bewitching Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.

My copy is horribly dog-eared and beat up from years of use. An indispensable guide that I wouldn't go without. I've been perusing it nostalgically while serving out my exile here in Florida :(.

I bought this book because I was on my way to visit his house in Key West and I wanted to get Hemingway's view of Key West around when he lived there; not to mention that as far as hits and misses goes, his hits have slaughtered the inexistant misses. THAHN is a short novel that tells multiple disorganized perspectives of a strange and quasi-interrelated story. Our main protagonist, Harry Morgan, sometimes speaks from the first person, and other times is spoken of by a narrater. Interlaced into his evolving narrative is a bizarre love story of the rich and debaucherous and communist revolutions in Cuba. Oh, and about 20 pages before the end, he introduces 10 new characters. Hemingway. But, as usual, it's not the story itself but the way he tells it that makes this novel and all of his work so appealing. There are equal parts brutality and compassionate love. I suppose, in a way, Hemingway's done a good job observing how real people live real life.

I don't know what other people think, but I think this book is great.. It doesn't have a happy ending I always look forward to. If I were Elizabeth, I could not let Ivan go.. But sometimes, you've just got to make up your mind.. Some people stay for a while, but everything about them lasts for a life time..

While weeding through my "to-read" list, I realized I had "read" this. Useful tool for librarians, especially in her "core collection" lists.
