I remember being sad that this book had to end. Delicious.

The first third to half of this one is slow-going. King spends the time laying groundwork and developing characters (although Lisey's husband, Scott, seemed pretty two-dimensional even after said development). Two years after her husband's death, Lisey has finally mustered the courage to go through her husband's papers and her own memories. Following the clues Scott left her and her own instincts, she embarks on a journey that risks both her life and her sanity. She will face Scott's terrors as well as her own, traveling into the past and into Boo'ya Moon, the alluring and terrifying world where he hid from his demons.

This booked lived up to the hype. For being a young adult book, I loved the politics involved.

Another one that I "read" on my iPod while exercising. Very interesting--a diffenent look at history and the environment.

Floja, floja, floja. Historia de amor con aderezo de intrigas, tensiones y crímenes... Vamos, otra más.
I have had the opportunity to read several memoirs by published authors in the last month or two..all have been excellent including this one. I can't help but want to wrap my arms around this author as a teenage boy. This book is absolutely heart-breaking to me.
This just felt unfinished to me, as though there were two separate stories to be told but only one was completed. So, the book starts off with the stories of Anne, Coop, and Claire. After spending 170 or so pages with them, we leave to delve into the history of Rafael, Anne's lover. But except for some first person commentary on the second story from Anne at the very end, the last page, we never come back to the lives or stories of Anne, Coop and Claire. It just felt very frustrating, to leave those characters mid-stream and not come back.

"It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. It is easier to give a cup of rice to relieve hunger than to relieve the loneliness and pain of someone unloved in our own home. Bring love into your own home for this is where our love for each other must start." "We impatiently await God's paradise, but we have in our hands the power to be in paradise right here and now. Being happy with God means this: to love as he loves, to help as he helps, to give as he gives, to serve as he serves." "If you have learned how to pray, then I am not afraid for you. If you know how to pray, then you will love prayer -- and if you love to pray, then you will pray. Knowledge will lead to love and love to service." I enjoy the words of Mother Teresa. She was an amazing and good woman.
