If 5 people mysteriously dying in one of the worst storms of century is what you get off on, then this fun and fluff book is for you. I think I would have preferred a non-fiction based book. With more information on how the storms form.

First, I was really struggling with myself whether or not to read these books, but the cover sold me, so I bought both, read both roughly over the last month, and I'd have to agree with pretty much everyone else... yes I enjoyed book... yes I was frustrated with unanswered questions... yes I will more than likely read the next book just because I cant start a series and not finish it... and YES I want to punch Daniel in the face because he's a total ASS!!!... Like, seriously... WHAT is the harm of telling Luce wtf is going on, and just give her some information so she isnt thrown into a brawl like towards the end of Torment...(which I thought was kind of cheesy...)... but anywhoo... if you enjoy books where they always leave you wondering, then you'll like this.... enjoy :)

Marvelous - six storylines nested within one another - a literary sextet. It was a bit abrupt to get caught up in a story, only to have it end and move on to the next one. But there would be some brief mention of a connection somehow to the previous story. When you reach the final story at the heart of the novel, you start to see the connectedness of the stories and the overall theme of the book. And then you get to find out what happens in the second half of the remaining stories!
Slow start, but it got better; skewed too young for me. The pacing was a little off too. Slow start, but it got better.

Fascinating with history of the Manhattan Project and the role of Oak Ridge woven into the plot.

I am somewhat dismayed that this wasn't required reading in college. This book is so rich in language and ideas. From the first page I knew I was in for a real treat from a master of the written word. The language is beautiful without being inaccessible---the ideas are clear and the structure is carefully thought through. This was a book club book but over the years at least 4 very different people recommended this book to me and now I see why. In my book club (which is made up of all women), we were particularly interested in how easy it might be for such a world to come into existence and how history would talk about this period in the future. The world this book is set in is nightmarish, from a woman's perspective, but it is also thought provoking and gives the reader pause----for how are the roles of men and women different today? Where does inequality still exist? How could men and women become equal? Is this even possible? What stops this from happening? These are the kinds of questions the reader asks him/her self. The only thing that stopped me in the past from reading this book was that, because of the cover, I thought this book had replaced humans with mice, similar to "Maus" without the illustrations and I could never quite get myself in the mood for such a book. I don't know why the cover made me think of mice but in any case, this book isn't about a world populated by mice that act like humans, it is a very human book.

Loved it. The Oddysey is dripping with machismo. It was refreshing to read a version that challenged the testosterone.

It was a good romantic book. Some people like to live as they want without considering people judgments. They live as they wish. I think they enjoy the life more than others.
