Cute book with great illustrations. Both a good story of friends who don't always get along and text that is fun to read aloud and repeat. Like the robot in the book, my son now says "beep boop" whenever he sees a robot.

Hello my goodreads readers.Today story is about somewhere in the darkness. Jimmy the main charcater is very smart, strong, respectful,a shy person, scared of sigguatin he goes through. This book is about a boy name jimmy who father has been gone for years. Jimmy with his godmohter mama jean. One day his father comes looking for Jimmy, but he wasnt there. About a half hour later here he comes again. AT first Jimmy Hesitate they talk make conversation and mamajeans come. she speaks and we found out his name was crab. Crab told mama jeans that he has coming to take Jimmy. you have to get the book from Ms woodard and read the feelings and emotions on what happens with his journey with his father crab.

**1/2 Decent book, but overall it didn't come through on the action or the supernatural elements or the romantic pieces. This is one of his earlier books, and it sets out to do a lot while maintaining a fast pace, and doesn't quite hit every point it attempts but at least keeps the pacing. A lot of the themes and story elements of this book were re-used and made better in some of his later stories.

i really love tamora pierce, you guys. i loved all of the stories in this book, but my favorite was probably the one about the tree or, surprisingly, the one about nawat. they really were all fantastic though!

If you can ignore the whole racism/longing for the time of slaves thing, it's a ripping good tale with mostly interesting characters. But since that's a large part of the story...I realize the author grew up in another era, etc, but still, some of her opinions (or her characters' opinions) make me downright uncomfortable. The book glamorizes slavery.

The storyline is pretty neat(outdoors hippie turns humanitarian and builds schools for girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan), I just hated the way it was written. A journalist tells the story, in what is supposed to be "objective" language but which instead is full of flattery that makes it hard to swallow. I would have liked it better if it had been ghost written in first person.
