I'm still baffled as to why there is a flat stomached, white female body on the front cover. Especially considering some of Valenti's points were insistant on the new age of feminism; open to men and women of all colour and creeds. Other than that, this was an interesting book from a British point of view. Who knew Mississippi banned vibrators but allowed people to buy guns with a background check? Not me! Or that abstinance only education is incrediably wide spread? Not me! Or that pharmacists are allowed to refuse patients the pill/EC? Not me! It made me quite grateful to be living in Britain. I found Valenti's style of writing distracting. It felt like she ended every sentance with, 'I know, right?' or some other sarcastic comment. This book is probably best for high school and young college students. I found her voice quite patronising and off putting, there wasn't anything particularly new from a ideological view point, but it would still be an informative book for those who are total new comers to the movement known as feminism.

I listened to the audio version of this. I enjoyed this look at the Friday night Knitting Club during the holidays. I loved learning more about Georgia through her friends. I liked how the book tied up the ends. I would recommend reading the first two books of the series first though or at least one of the previous books.

David Sedaris is one of the funniest yarn spinners around! When he tells family stories I often have tears running down my face and am winded from belly laughing so hard. I recommend that you listen to his books rather than read them, part of the hilarity is in his awesome story-telling abilities.

Good book. Lol...but forgot till a third of the way in that I'd read it before. Kept reading it though & enjoyed it in that contented kind of way. Draw your own conclusions about those two facts.

a collection of short stories. they were all good... but the thing is that one joyce carol oates story is depressing enough.... 19 stories in a book is just overwhelmingly sad.
I love reading about serial killers! The information is fascinating; the writing leaves a little to be desired. Bob Keppel knows his stuff, but he drones on for too long on certain aspects and tends to repeat himself. The flow of chapters could also use a little more organization. But it's a small price to pay for getting to hear the whole story from someone who knows it so well!

Non-fiction books are great for vocabulary. This has beautiful illustrations that introduce us to similar, but different animals of the ape family. The poetic words give the book a good read-a-loud cadence and make use of descriptive words. Early Literacy Skills: Phonological Awareness Print Motivation Vocabulary

I had no idea about the Vel d'Hiv, that the French police ever collaborated with the Nazis in deporting Jews. The history of this story was the most interesting thing to me, just another facet of the Holocaust I'd not known. There were 2 f-words but in conjuction with the harsh treatment during deportation. When I read about these families being held in an arena, it made me think of the reported conditions in the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. Unimaginable.

Classic endures. I really loved this story; actually stayed up all night to read it. The main characters are terrific, well-rounded and mature. The hero's son, Joe, was amazing. Linda Howard wrote them all so vividly I felt they were real people. I could ignore the head-hopping as the rest was so masterfully written.
