This book is great - I like the idea -- but it was written before anybody invented the idea of skipping the intervals in which nothing interesting happens. So you get a lot of "And then the next day she spent all day reading a book in the sitting room, and the day after that she decided to go for a walk around three...." only longer and with more descriptive passages. I know, I know, it's a classic and certain allowances must be made.... but.... why?

I found this book to be a easy read. It was quick to get through but not yet a page turner. The flow was nice, the characters identifiable, the only thing I did not care for was the ending. After a long lead up it was just over with some but little closure. However with that said, I still recommend the book to friends. Maybe just save it for a beach day.

Again, Murakami brings out bizarre metaphysical events and wraps them into a story. A good book but certainly not his best. After three of his books this year I think I'm done reading him for awhile.
