Oh I loved this book. I do have to say it rivals Twilight. I felt like I was speed reading like I did when I was reading Twilight. I would say to myself I will stop at the end of this chapter and then of course the chapter would end really suspenseful. So of course one more chapter..........

This is a fun little novel about a good girl going just a little bad. Amelia is a small-town girl with a heart of gold, and she's been in love with her fiance since grade school. When he dumps her, she's devastated - and even more upset when she realizes she doesn't really know who she is or what she likes. She's spent her entire young adulthood trying to please her ex, and now it's time to find out how to please herself. An organizational whiz for the Bellagio shoe company, Amelia takes a temporary assignment in Florida and meets mysterious Jack. He helps her round out her "things to try" life list. She shows him what it means to have someone care about you. Naturally, sparks fly. Once they're back to real life in Atlanta, though, things get rocky, and Amelia and Jack have to figure out how to merge their private relationship into their workaday lives. To complicate things, Jack's not quite who he seems, and Amelia's younger sister is getting married - with Amelia's ex standing as the groom's best man. Nice depiction of a relationship where two people get to know each other, warts and all, and move ahead by encouraging each other's best traits to grow.
one of the greatest fantasy book that I ever read because George R.R. Martin really did a great job in creating a new world for the reader. All the characters are equally important and what I love about this book is the element of surprise. We will never know what will happen next.

I feel very personally connected to Ulrich and really like this book. The translator's note about the Geist and how different English words were used based on context made me wonder what Musil actually wrote every time "spirit," "mind," or some other similar word popped up. This wasn't really a problem, but it did make me more aware that I was reading the book in translation.
Alice feels lost ever since her mother died of cancer years before. The only solace she finds is in her boyfriend Blaze and in the music she writes and plays with her best friend Claire at church. Her father has remarried and they no longer cook and make up jingles together and her step mother is expecting a baby girl. Alice is not excited about her new half-sister. Then her life goes from bad to worse; Claire tells her that the church thinks Alice’s songs are too sad and they don’t want them to play and sing anymore. She and Claire stop talking and hanging out and Alice feels even more alone; thank God for Blaze but she even has some confusion about him. Then after her new sister is born, her dad tells her they are driving to California from their Seattle home to visit Victoria’s parents for Thanksgiving. Her dad is called away on business Thanksgiving night and Victoria, Alice, and Ivy make the return trip to Seattle. They wind up caught in a blizzard and Victoria’s and Alice’s icy relationship begins to thaw even as the temperature drops. When Victoria goes for help, Alice focuses on keeping Ivy alive and learns things about herself and her dead mother in the process. The story is told in poems that have an authentic teenage voice.

After seeing so many tv shows, movies, and mini-series with these two characters, I thought this would feel like a re-tread. What a pleasant surprise! I can see how these stories became wildly popular in serial form. Each story was quick and exciting, with characters so well drawn. My favorite part of the book was the friendship between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. I cannot remember a book with such a supportive generous friendship between men. Really a joy to read.

I just spent the past few hours devouring this. If you done like graffic sex, threesome and a dose of DP, then don't read it! Yes it has A LOT of sex, but it also has a really good storyline to go with it. Nothing really unique but I found it an enjoyable short read :)
