Normally I love some Dark-Hunter books...but this one didn't get my motor running like the earlier books in the series. It read like it was written in a hurry...or it was much longer and the details were left on the edit room floor. The character development was a little choppy but I owe that to the fact that I've read books 1-4, 7, 10, and 15. Clearly this series is meant to be read in a better order than yours truly completed.

This book changed my life. It's dramatic tales of love, death, illness, triumph, destiny lost, destiny fulfilled, Doug, football (soccer), politicians, religion, birth, rebirth, reincarnation, deception, an old-fashioned western-style shoot 'em up shootout. I think everyone should read this book, but not just on the basis of this stellar, sterling, stupendous, snacktacular review.

I just finished reading 'Tampering with Asylum' by Frank Brennan. As some of you know, I am a slow reader and I was reading this book on and off so it took me a while to finish. Unlike 'Asylum' by Heather Tyler, it didn't really grab my attention or invoke any strong emotional response. The book was a more legally in depth and would only appeal to those who already have a grasp of the inhumane policy that the book focuses on. It is very calculated and provided excerpts from various documents that outlined the government's gross negligence when it came to honouring it's humanitarian obligations. This book is only for the political nerds, like myself, I would recommend 'Asylum' by Heather Tyler for most people who want to get an understanding of what is going on. http://writingcorner.blogspot.com/200...

This is the first Discworld book I've read. It was funny but I felt a lot of the jokes in it were predictable. Taking the piss out of the genre of fantasy feels a bit like bullying a small, weedy geek that can't defend himself. But that said it WAS funny, and the story picked up pace as it was going along. I have been told by various Pratchett aficionados not to judge the Discworld books by this particular offering, so I am going to give it another chance.

Very interesting! I think of this book like a historical fiction..it is loosley following the life of First Lady Laura Bush. I ended up really loving this book! I liked it even more once I realized a lot of it was true. Great, fast read!
Chain Reaction is the third novel in Simone Elkeles’ Perfect Chemistry contemporary romance series. Do not read this review if you haven’t read Perfect Chemistry and Rules of Attraction. There will be spoilers galore! I will do my best not to give anything away for this book though. It may be a rather vague review but hey, I don’t want to ruin the experience for you. Luis Fuentes is the youngest brother of the family and if you remember back to Alex’s story, you’ll also remember that at eleven he was the smartest. In the opening chapters of Chain Reaction he is fifteen and is a straight A student, champion swimmer and all round good boy or at least that’s what his family believe. Luis may be smart but he also he the characteristic recklessness of any Fuentes. He is an adrenalin junkie and when we meet him he rock climbing without the proper safety equipment. You know pride always comes before a fall, right?! But his life changes when his mother relocates them back to Fairfield, Chicago. The story doesn’t stay with Luis at fifteen for long. It zooms zips forward a few years to the point where is his life has changed dramatically, he has returned to Chicago with his mum and it’s his senior year. Now any Perfect Chemistry book would not be complete without a sassy heroine. Meet Nikki Cruz – hardworking, beautiful, emotionally scarred American Mexican – who does not want to get involved with any guy. Nikki lives on the North side of Fairfield and has decided that any guy on the South side spells trouble. But when Luis and Nikki meet for the first time, it’s memorable to say the least. When they meet again, they can’t keep their eyes off each other. Luis has his sights firmly set on college. Nikki has her sights firmly on keeping her heart intact. But then there’s the attraction between them and it drives them to distraction. Can Luis get Nikki to let down her guard and take on chance Mr Adrenalin? Oh and I forgot to mention that the Latino Blood gang have their sights on Luis and if they can’t get him, then they’ll settle for his blood. I’m going to be honest here and say at times some of the choices Luis made with regards to the gang seemed a little out of character. I think that was the point Elkeles was trying to make. Any person who is living among such violence can be changed or influenced by it. But he had a choice and annoyingly for me, he kept making the stupid ones. He thought he was being clever. I thought he was being a nincompoop. So that was a minor irritation. Also the climactic scene lacked some of the edge that I know Elkeles can deliver so that was a little disappointment for me. Otherwise I thought Chain Reaction was great. The romance between Luis and Nikki was entertaining, steamy and compelling. I want to know if there will be more books about the next generation of Fuentes. If there is, I’ll certainly be buying them. I just find the stories so page-turning. I am shameless romantic who will always hope for a happy ending.
Bailey Ruth is a delightful creature. She and her husband were killed on their boat. She is sent from heaven to rescue people. This time she is sent back to her hometown to save an enemy of hers. The only complaint I have of the book is that there are too many descriptions of what she wears. Her clothes are delightful just too much description. Bailey Ruth has now got a friend in the police chief who knows she is a ghost. A fun read.

I'm one of those people who just can't for the life of me understand Shakespeare unless Kenneth Branagh spells it out for me. This book was excellent, largely because it speculates what Shakespeare's life might have been like given the historical context (what was going on in Britain at the time, where he was said to have come from, and the effect on his plays). The story slows down at times, but it offers some interesting insights on how Shakespeare's life might have influenced his plays.
