This was outstanding WITH ONE CAVEAT. DO NOT read the book jacket because it gives away the tipping point of the story which, although heavily foreshadowed, does not occur until around page 250 of the 315-page book. I won’t downgrade my star rating for something I realize is not the author’s doing. (But c’mon! Who decided this was a good idea?) This is a memoir on par with The Glass Castle in terms of mining optimism, honesty, understanding and beauty from a tale of the life of a little girl with over-idealistic parents whom many, if not most, would be prone to deride and dismiss.

I found this book pretty good. Kept me guessing. Was surprised at the end who the culprit was but am ok with that. I liked the characters and how they treated one another and others. Reading reviews of Listen I didn't know it was a Christian read. Was much pleased to see there wasn't too much reference to it that makes you go yuck. Toward the end it druged on. The few chapters left made it so that you wanted to read more I will update my blog soon and continue on with review @ http://scifisstrs.blogspot.com/
