This is a feel good story. It's very touching and had me in tears several times. Maggie was wonderful – a disabled veteran struggling to come to terms with the changes in her life. Jake was so caring and strong, giving her the room she needed but still trying to help her at the same time. This can be read as a stand alone without losing anything from the story, but it's actually the 2nd book in the series The Cowboys of Cold Creek. The first book, Light The Stars, was about the older brother, Wade and then 3rd, Dalton's Undoing, is about the younger one, Seth. There is also a Christmas story, The Cowboy's Christmas Miracle. The author is writing at least 3 more stories set in this town with the first coming out in Sept. 2009, A Cold Creek Homecoming.

It is a very good book
I really enjoyed this book. It left me wanting more and wondering of the adventures of Fanny and Sue while they were in California. It was great!

One of my all time favorites. I read it as a teenager (many moons ago) and loved it. Last year my niece read it for school and loaned it to me. Thirty years later it still had the same impact. My niece didn't enjoy it at all and I've been unable to convince any other younger people to read it. That's unfortunate because this really is a beautiful classic.

Bisher das beste Buch dieser Reihe, da aber bei weitem nicht an die Troubleshooter ran kommt.

I learned that everyone in the Harry Potter series is imagining it all and Ginny Weasley is just a high functioning schizophrenic.

We read this every day. OOOO! Snuggle puppy of mine! Everything about you is especially fine! Lucia likes to smack at the pages; she also enjoys the "Ooo"s and parts where she gets a kiss. I think she would give it five stars.

I remember really liking this book back in high school (or maybe it was “The Hero and the Crown” I really liked and this one I thought was just ok. I can’t remember…), but I really couldn’t get into this one. I finished it quickly enough, but I skimmed a lot of it. I dislike the author’s writing style. I had to go back and re-read so many things because she broke her sentences up very strangely. I’ve never seen someone interrupt a setting description with a thought before. Even strange was there was no notification that the change was being made, i.e. italicizing the thought. **Spoilers** I know HS-me really liked the ending, but now I just feel like it’s silly. Corlath and Harry have such little interaction and their relationship is hardly explored, but by the end they’re in love. I guess I’ve become a cynic over the years because that just bothered me.

it was pretty good. I liked the "mystery" part of it. But it was CREEPY!!! I stayed up almost all night to finish it because I couldn't sleep without finishing it cause I would have nightmares!

I found out about these books in sixth grade, since I had just finished reading some of Peterson Haddix books, like Running Out of Time and Turnabout. I didn't read the Shadow Children series back then, but my cousin did, and she was really into them. Five years later I decided I would give them a shot and I have to say I'm happy I did, I was drawn into the story within its first pages, I wish I'd been able to read it in one sitting, but instead I found myself waking up in the morning eager to read at least one more chapter. Honestly, I am very glad I didn't read them back when I was 10, I probably would've gotten too scared. The drastic measures that are presented to control overpopulation in the story were what really caught me and I can't wait to read the rest of the books. It is an easy read with a fascinating plot, highly recommended.
